It must be pretty bad if the dealer offerd to re-paint the car....thats a HUGE job for them to eat the cost on. Can you provide andy pics and/or details. What dealer is this?

Dude,
Get the clay bar clit (mothers, meguirs or zaino) and first try claying it and see if the particles are removed the non-intrusive way besides repainting. Search the forum for claying and you will see folks who have done it. Good luck!

thanks guys...here are some answers to your comments/questions
1) these dust lumps are pin sized lumps...some are under the clear coat...some are like "bubbles"/lumps that affect the clearcoat...in other words, the ones under the clear coat look like dots and are flat and can not be felt...the other ones are actual "bumps"...
2) there are two pin sized spots underneath the clear cut where the paint didn't stick and you can see bare metal
3) with all of these spots/lumps, you have to look REALLY close, but they are there
4) i've searched this site and the internet and and found others with the same problems.
5) there may be a total of 20 or so of these flat and lumpy dots scattered around the car
6) i've shown the car to abour 4 other body shop guys...they all confirm that it's a "standard" factory problem and that the car has not been repainted
What are the risks/problems with repainting?

the paint job from a body job is never as good as a factory one.
unless we are talking about master painters and show cars.
at the body shop, the car does not go through a chemical bath nor does the bare metal get prepped for painting.
aparrently they use an electrostatic paint application process at the factory which helps the paint stick properly.
if they repaint the car, i'm guessing they will just use fine sandpaper to rough up the surface and respray.
nothing too big.
if they really meant to repaint the car, it would be an intensive process costing $5,000+ (strip paint, prep metal, primer, paint, clearcoat, etc...) not including all the sanding between coats.
that's insane.
(i remember when BMW had to repaint a lot of Z3's, THAT sucked.)

thanks seotaji
u r right...they said that they'll keep the base paint...sounds like they'll just sand and respray...is that ok? will it leave marks of repaint that will affect resale value?
btw...that happened with the BMW Z3?

silver tl...seems that dust lumps are pretty common...
i have a few "hard" bumps ... MOST of my lumps are below the clear coat and can not be felt, just seen ... a few are actual lumps (like bubbles in the clear cut)... may be that's why the dealer/manu offered to "repaint" the entire car (i.e., sand, keep the base coat on and re"spray")...
guys...is it worth it?

personally if you can live with the bumps id try n get something else from the dealer like a body kit .... i think its much worse to have over spray all over your car .... i had the same problem with my bumper when i first got my ssm tls and if i had a chance to go back n not paint it....i would have.

the repaint will not last as long and DOES affect the resale value of the car.
sad.
the Z3 had to have all the paint stripped off and repainted, b/c of some wierd error at the factory.
