To paint or not to paint?

99 TL with TSX rims and 105K miles in black. Runs great and interior very nice except for 2 small tears in drivers seat. Paint is OK with some rust starting at rear wheel wells. Lots of small door dings made less visible with Dr Colorchip. Would you repaint this car? I know decent paint will cost $2500 to $3K and I know what a nice used car will cost. Paint or drive as is until it falls apart. From 20 feet away, the car looks great after a wash and wax.

only you can answer that.

and are you sure that the decent paint job for 2500-3k is decent?

Don't paint. Just fix up the part where this is paint problem, and save the money for the next car payment.

The paint on my 2000 is garbage. I figure at this point I'd never see the money from painting it, so I've just learned to deal with it.

Only paint it for yourself if you really want to and have the cash. No way you will get the money back on a sale.

My 03 tl-s has really bad flaking of the clear coat on the roof and trunk, and i was told it would be $3k to repaint it.

With 186k on it, a repaired title (bought it like that) and so on its not worth it for me.... i mean it runs pretty great now that i got my suspension all together but still.

with 105k and its running solid then i'd say its pretty much based on how much you love the car. If you're in love with the 99 tl i'd do it but like i would definately see if i could find maybe a manual 03 manual cl-s or a newer model year tl with similar mileage in good shape.

this is cheaper than paint and will change the look of it and is really durable when applied correctly.
