Paint Matching Question

I've got a silver TL with very noticeable, deep scratches on the corner of my rear bumper, slightly noticeable scratches (one sort of deep) on my front bumper, and a door ding on my driver's side door.

I asked a body shop what it would cost to fix the rear bumper and he gave me a quote to repair and spot paint it, and a larger quote to repair it and paint the entire bumper. He recommended painting the entire bumper because he wouldn't be able to perfectly match the color if he spot paints, and it will eventually be noticeable.

My thought is, because it is silver paint, and I can't even notice a month's worth of dirt on my paint, maybe it would be worth it to spot paint. That way, I'd be able to afford to paint that minor scuff on the front and possibly fix the door ding for the same price as painting the rear bumper.

What do you guys think? Has anyone had just a portion of a panel spot painted? And if so, how did it turn out?

I'd do the spot matching. Bumpers are likely to get scratched again. I'd hate to spend a lot of $$ to repaint the entire bumper only to have some mofo bump it. Like you said, its easier to get away with it with a silver car.
