Cool P0505 '02 tl

Hello all
I'm new here did some research on this code and am confused
as to the meaning of the code? I've reset this code twice from computer. Returned at different times. Does low octane have anything to do with it? According to the owners manual we need 91+ octane.
I've noticed it seems to appear under hard acceleration. Did notice surging at idle turned car off and restarted seemed to clear up erratic idle.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Welcome onebadclown!

Your issue can be resolved if you clean or replace the iacv valve. I would try to clean that first before shelling out 200 bucks on a new one.

Also, while your in their check and or clean the throttle body, lubbe the throttle body plates and clean and lube the throttle body springs.

Separate but might be related check and or clean the egr valve and egr ports. All easy cleaning DIY`s.

+1 to the IACV cleaning. My RPMs were way out of control, and I took the TB and IACV off and cleaned them pretty thoroughly and that solved the issue!
