P0131 O2 Sensor replaced but still getting code

Was getting the p0131 code and changed the o2 sensor. when I changed it, there was oil on the connector. I cleaned the connector with electronic spray and used dielectric lube but it's still throwing the code. I'm pretty sure the oil is coming from my valve cover gasket (will be replacing soon).

1. How long does it take for the code the clear? I only had it at idle and the code didn't go away.
2. Anything else I should try?

Thanks

1. Make sure you use OEM o2's not Bosch

2. You can disconnect the battery to clear the ECU.

I got the Denso O2 and cleared the codes via obd2 scanner. Looks like I'm also getting P0135 now. I followed the maintenance manual to troubleshoot and I'm not seeing the 12V come across the heater pins. I'm thinking the wires are bad. Going to trace the wires back to see if they are damaged from the oil.

Keep us posted! I've got the same codes, but I haven't done anything about it yet as it's way too cold outside haha. I'll use the knowledge you share to make my fix go by quicker : )

The sensor I ordered ended up being defective. I ordered another one and it worked fine. Both were Denso. Every is up and running and I passed smog!

By any chance did you buy them from Amazon? I had that same issue with an Amazon sensor.

The defective one was from ebay. I bought a working one that was from Amazon warehouse that just had a damaged box for $12. Has been working great for 3 weeks now
