hello everyone,

i'm the guy who wanted the chrome shift plate.

Well, i painted my shfit plate with chrome paint but, it didn't look right. I sprayed paint remover all over it to get the chrome paint removed.

I left it there for 15 minutes and guess what? the whole sfhit plate melted!!! now my TL-S is w/o a shift plate.

uuummm...trip to acura dealer!

I saw your earlier post and everyone told you that only the 99 Tls have that. Oh well, sorry to hear you F*cked up... would really want to see pics just for a good laugh.

I just ordered shift plate replacement through my dealer. It will be here on tuesday~~~

Did you atleast order a 99 shift plate...

'99 shift plate is different from 2003. If i put '99 plate i won't be able to use 1st gear and maybe..SS.

The only difference it was set up for a 4 speed and not a 5 speed. It will fit..

Why would you want to you 1st gear by gate shifting when you can use the SS...

'99 TL comes with chrome shift plate stock? I don't have to do anything to it? let me know thx.

yea the '99 shift plates are silver but are chrome under the paint. You just have to remove the paint.....just be sure to use nail polish remover or something...not the stuff that melted your old one. :o

i would post pics but i don't have digicam and I threw it out already. I don't feel like searching through the trash can (it's outside on the street).

I can see it ..it's right on top. Maybe wen no one is looking i'll snatch it back into my house and take pics.

that happened to my friends lime green avenger. but he used easy off oven cleaner to get the paint off. he said it was not as harsh.

No, you will still have to remove the paint on the gate. heres how i did it:

and it only takes 45 or so seconds to remove. best procedure so far.

cause from 2000 to 2003 1st gear cannot be controled by SS, it shifts regardless of what you want. so 2000-2003'ers use the gate to shift.
