Oil Filter modification

I have been doing this for a while and wanted to share my tip.
For those of you that use or have seen a orange Fram oil filter, most folks really like the roughened up bottom of the filter. it really makes spinning a oily filter much easier to handle.

It is very easy to make that same grip on your favorite filter. It is nothing more than spray paint.

Fram is using a paint called black wrinkle finish paint. They mask off the portion they don't want painted and spray the bottom of the filter.

You can buy a gaggle of your favorite oil filters and do the same thing yourself.

Any black wrinkle paint will work fine. Just make sure the painted area is free of oil and fingerprints.

I buy about 6 filters at a time and paint them up and store until needed.

I can't post pictures yet but it is very easy to do.

^you can post pictures.
Host the pictures to a photo sharing site like photobucket.
then post the links here.

also, with wrinkle paint, i thought you had to heat/bake it to make it wrinkle.

On baking the paint, I just sit it in the Smokin Hot
Dallas Texas 108 degree sun.
Bakes in no time!
