oil filter change question

i'm thinking of switching over to synthetic oil for my next oil change, but i still have a couple of questions. since synthetics allow you to change your oil over longer intervals than conventiional oil, would the same apply to an aftermarket oil filter designed for use with synthetic oil like Mobil 1 or K&N? or would you still have to replace the filter every 6000km (i'm in canada) as per the manual but you can leave the oil alone? i think most here change their synthetic oil every 5000-6000miles = 8000-9500km so that'd be 2 oil filter changes for every 3 oil changes. will any oil come gushing right out if taking off the filter with oil in the engine?

change filter every time you change your oil
and yes, oil will come gushing out
even when your oil pan is empty, oil gushes out
good luck

I use Royal Purple and Purolator Pure oil filters. I change mine about every 6500 miles...
Just buy a better filter to go with your synthetic of choice and you should be fine...
