oil change and tranny fluid drain

I took my car in today for an oil change and decided to change the tranny fluid as well. The car only has 37,000kms on it but I wanted to change the tranny fluid since it was turing slightly brown.

When I got the car back I noticed a big difference in the way the car shifts. It is much smoother and the car feels brandnew. Acura recomends that the tranny fluid be changed every 90,000kms, I cant imagine what the car would feel like if you dont change the fluid until then. For anyone thinking about changing their tranny fluid I highly recomend it. It really makes a world of a difference!!!

Hey ndawood ...

I did the change at around 48000km ... it felt like a brand new tranny after they did it. Seriously, it's probably placebo effect (only did a drain, not a flush). If your tranny's gonna go, it's gonna go. That slightly brown colour that you see ... either you got some moisture in it or metal bits (ie tranny wear) in the fluid.

Oh well ... I thought you were going with a Lex in the near future?

I did a drain as well. It felt smoother but it could just be me thinking it is. When I asked for a flush they actually did a drain and called it a flush. Bastards!! The dealer told me it was not recommended to do a flush which is probably BS too.

I have heard both about the whole flush thing. I got mine done at the dealer without any problems, but who knows. It felt smoother afterwards also.

I have been eyeing the new GS and they are expecting it to hit the dealers in feb. I think I am going to wait a year to see if there are any problems then get into one....

The dealer I go to told me that they dont so flushes on the tranny either. For some reason honda does not recomend them. I wonder why that is???
