Oil Change at dealership

Oil Change at dealership
Well I just got my oil changed on my 2001 TL w/18500 miles on it. I guess I had mixed feelings. I went to the McGrath dealership of Westmont on Odgen Ave. Well I guess my service guy Chuck was what gave me a bad feeling about this particular dealership. Before I arrived, I made a checklist of things to get repaired on my vehicle. This included the warped rotors, windsheild wipers, crack in leather seat, and CD player. He agreed to order new parts for the windsheild wipers and a new front driver seat cover for the cracked seats. I was fairly happy about that, but when I asked him about my CD player having problems playing burned CDs, he just said that getting a remanufactured CD player would not fix anything. I commented that at least 4 people a week come in to get their CD players fixed because CDs get stuck in the CD player and that it was a common problem. I reinforced that the problem was with playing burned CDs and not CDs getting stuck. He was still stubborn in his decision and said it was a technical problem with the CD player manufacturer and not the Acura dealership. I wasn't too happy about that, nevertheless. Then when he addressed the rotor problem he told me that on the next appointment, which is next week, he will check to see if the front brake pads are more than half gone. If they are then to get the warped rotors fixed and new brake pads, we would have to pay. I tried explaining to him that there was a TSB report on it and I even included the copy I got from this site, however, he still said that next week we would just have to wait and see if the pads are more than half worn down. Other than that I was happy with my visit especially when I saw the hooked up RSX type S with comptech front strut bars, new intake manifold, injen intake, ww kit, carbon fiber hood, exhaust, and comptech sways sitting in the front showroom. To my surprise, this dealership does install aftermarket parts and with a warrenty. This is very good news! Sorry for the long post. Thanks!

The rotor story that the guy told you is total BS! I had the same problems with a dealer down here. They didn't want to replace the pads or turn the rotors under warranty. I called another dealer and they did it, no problem. Go to another dealer. Also, the TSB that can be found on the a-c-u-r-a world website is better than the one I found one here, and clearly states that no matter what, the dealer has to fix it if you are within normal warranty period. No pads have to be worn crap, etc...You're best bet is to get a copy of the TSB from the other site and bring that in with you. Also, call Acura and complain about it to them. I intend on doing the same about the dealer down here. These dealers are trying to cheat people, and that is just plain wrong.

Actually, Acura doesn't pay, but rather supplies the parts for free. The dealer not only charges for labor, but marks up the price of parts, so the dealer actually lost some revenue by it being warranty work-the money lost from the parts being supplied, therefore not marked up.
