Oil Change - 6 months and only 3300kms

The girl who answered the phone at the dealer tells me to change the oil at 6000km or 6 months which ever comes first.
I presently have 3300km and have had the car since Jan 8th 2003... alittle over 6 months.

I have read in this forum not to change the oil before 7500 miles ( 12 000 km) because the TL has special break in oil and if you remove it before 7500 miles your not letting the engine breakin properly???

I have had the car 6 months.....
what would you do in my shoes?

Thx

I changed my oil at 2k 4k 6k 8k(changed to syn) then ever 4 from then on.....

You engine loses small particals and i think can damage the car in the long run... Put your oil through a strainer and see what particles are left. The faster they come out of the car the better it is for the engine...

Sundance1...

Don't feel bad for the low mileage. You're gonna laugh, but I got my car exactly 1 year and 1 week ago and I'm only at 3,000 miles. Why? I work in the city (Manhattan) and take the subway, back & forth Monday thru Friday. On the weekends, sometimes I'll go out, but if I know in advance that I'm going to a "bad" neighborhood, I'll take my '96 Maxima. If I know I'm gonna have to park on a municipal parking lot where people have little regards for personal property (car), then I'll take either my father's Durango or the Maxima, whichever is on the garage. I know, I'm being a bit paranoid, but I can't help it. I really like my car and that's the only excuse I got (I don't know whether to be or that my TL-S got such a hold over me...).

P.S. - I have not changed the oil yet, as I'm waiting to get to 4,000 miles, as this is what the dealer / sales rep. told me to do when I got the car last year.
