Oem or xlr8 mounts?
I had my car inspected at the dealer and they said my front motor was broken; I'm thinking about buying some XLR8 mounts. Here's the problem the oem ones are vacumm assisted and xlr8 are not. I see alot of you guys are using them, do you just plug the line up?

yes plug the line
BUT
be prepared to give up the smoothness of the oil filled mount
the vac system stiffens the mount when on the throttle hard
poly is always rock solid

The XLR8 mounts are pretty nice. They start out pretty stiff but they do mellow out a little bit. Nowhere near the smoothness of oem but they will never break like oem will. What I did was follow the rubber vac line back to where it ended and connected to the steel line. I pulled the rubber hose off there and put on a vacuum cap sold at autozone. The one you need will look like its way small for the vac line but it will stretch out and cover it tightly leaving no room for leaks. Good luck if you plan to do these yourself, the rear was a monster.

I'm totally bad at keeping records so to be honest I don't know how many miles at all are on them. At idle the vibrations their worst. Mostly apparent in the steering wheel. As soon as you step on the gas though it's silky smooth as if they are the oem mounts. I don't mind it at all, eventually you stop worrying about it, turn up the radio or whatever. I think that considering I plan to keep this car till its completely dead, they are a good investment. They actually come out cheaper than all 3 oem mounts too. I'll take you a video at idle inside my car w no music on or anything as soon as I'm off work so you can kinda get an idea. The steering wheel is the worst of it like I said but just grab it and that solves a lot of it.

I went with the ebay kit and I couldn't be happier. Paid $150 for vacuum-assist mount kit which includes 3 engine mounts and 2 tranny mounts. I installed all 5 and get no vibrations at idle (make sure you install the piece of rubber with the mount). My car runs silky smooth and a huge difference over the old oem mounts. I installed them myself, and personally speaking, I found the rear mount not to be a big deal to install. I posted installation instructions.
