An ode to my TL
Hello fellow 2nd gen TL owners,
This will be my last post on the 2nd gen forum since tomorrow I will be selling my beloved 2001 Acura TL. I have owned this car since I was 16 (currently 23) and bought it 6 years ago with 80K miles for $6,500 and will be selling it tomorrow for $5,000 with 120K miles (not bad only $1,500 depreciation over 6 years!).
It has NEVER let me down, given me any major problems, and I have never seen the check engine light on. Its been a dream. the ONLY reason I am selling it because I just purchased brand new a 2015 Acura TLX SH-AWD with Advance package on 07/23/2015. Its an amazing machine.
Just for fun, here is some stuff I loved about my TL.
- Reliability (it is an accord after all)
- The sporty drive, with its fun to corner abilities and LOVE the tiptronic manual shifting option to shift myself, I used that easily 95% of my driving over the years
- The seats. I loved the sporty bucket seats
- Luxury touches like heated seats, power everything, bose radio, homelink garage door programmer, etc
- Style. It looks great, except the paint is kinda faded and theres some marks from over the years.
I will miss the memories! I have had 4 different girl friends drive in it, gone to 3 different colleges in 2 different states with it (Santa barbara, CA and University of Arizona).
So, this is just of course, a farewell. As I leave the 2nd gen forums and bring my curser over a bit to the 5th gen Acura TLX forums!

Very nice. First cars always have a special place in your memories. My first car was a 1980 Chevy Malibu that cost me $800 used with 80k miles and I drove all over the place. Sold it after adding another 100k miles for $300. Best $500 I ever spent.
Good luck with the new TLX. Looks great
