OBDII help. What kind to buy and code P0420
Hello folks,
My 99TL check engine light came on. Went to Autozone and the code was P0420. My Acura service manual (very handy) says it's "Catalytic System Efficiency Below Threshold". No other codes other than this. I had them clear it and will put some fuel injector cleaner in and change the PCV valve. I had the EGR kit/clean recall done just 4k ago so it shouldn't be the EGR valve.
Any ideas what other issue it may be.
The service manual gives a testing procedure to test drive with scanner attached (I don't have) which will indicate PASS or FAIL. If fail, it's says to replace the three way catalytic converter. I've got 95k, is there an emmisions recall covering this up to 150k? Also, any recommendation on a Brand of OBDII scanner to purchase?
