Hey everyone. Sorry i have been so busy with dealing with my car. So replacing the shift cylinders did not work. This entire week I have been browsing around looking at new cars and also been trying to get rid of my acura tl. I just also found out that the new wheels and tires will fit on the car that I have been looking at. So that is great news. Now I need to decide where i am going to be putting my tl. We were thinking scrap yard and yes i know i will get almost nothing for it but at this time we save 1700 on the new wheels and tires since we dont have to throw them away and i will be able to enjoy them on my new car.

I hope this is a good enough update as i dont know much more to say. I will let you know once everything is final.

Have you considered replacing the tranny with the much improved '06/'07 Accord V-6 5speed AT ?
If ya look around, getting a good used one installed may be possible for less than the price of those rims !

Now they will pay for maintenance for the car, but any aftermarket part I put in that's not needed is put towards the 20,000. Keep in mind installation cost as well for the things I cant do myself. So please feel free to make me a list so that one I have had this transmission issue fixed, I can continue modding my car.

Yeah, I would've stuck it out a bit longer......but considering that the temptation for instant gratification is extremely hard to resist given the circumstances provided by his parents. Buy a newer TL !!!!

Yes. My dad did the same thing i did when he was my age. He put a lot of money into his car and down the road later he had to keep replacing expensive parts. Yes the quote i got was for 3000 installed. It was the 06 07 accord a/t transmission. Both of you have been a huge help to me ever since i joined the forums in feb. helping me with different mods. My decision is final though and I will be buying a new car either today or tomorrow. I have made my mind up on a new scion tc with lots of mods that they offer. If you would like me to list them i can. Thanks again to a the members that gave me feedback on parts and what they thought. Once i have my new car with all the parts i want on i will post a picture.

Thanks again,

Chris

Hey Cwallace1, while ya made a final decision to move on to the new "SC"......ya abandoned your true love, the ol TL !!!!

With everything that you've done up to this point, the effort put towards the TL's tranny replacement would've been more personally gratifying and also been very dependable for a few more years until ya decided upon a real car and not a boy toy.

3000 installed is a rip off! The trans can be had for about 800-1000 bucks. Install isn't hard.. But the scion isn't bad, my mom likes them.

I had a new remanufactured tranny installed about a year ago for 2700 that came with a 3 yr 100k warranty. I had 123k on my car at that time and I feel it was well worth it. I don't have the company handy but I believe they are called transstar. I did have the clutch solenoid go out after a few thousand miles but they replaced that no questions asked without any problems. I now have 144k on my car and the tranny works/shifts beautifully. As everyone knows, as long as it's maintained properly, a Honda engine will last well into 200k+ miles, so I feel it's worth it. Especially when I love my TL as much as I do.

So did the TL go to the boneyard ?
May it rest in peace and help serve other TL's to live longer by being a parts donor.

You have my deepest condolences, and best of luck with your newly found love.

IMO, TC's are ugly and is NOT worth buying, especially the new ones. HIDEOUS.

"my tl"
You kept it? I thought it was a short lived ownership

I don't understand...you went from getting an old car, chose to give up on it within days, and then decide to get a new tc.... Which looks like a robot penis.

The tl will always be better than the scion except the transmission which is an easy fix.

Have fun with T.he C.hick

"easy fix"

What is considered an easy fix?

A 6 speed swap is NOT an easy fix.

Mine shudders in 3rd gear, but everything else is fine w/ my trans.

an oddy or av6 auto tranny is pretty easy, i never mentioned a 6spd swap.
4-5k for a tl+ a tranny swap is cheaper than a new tc.
