Newbie - Tires, Tires, Tires???

Hey guys, I am waiting for delivery of my EBP here in Toronto.

I am pretty convinced that will get a spare set of wheels and winter tires so I thought I would look into upgrading my stock all-seasons to summer tires.

I will not be taking the car on the track so my priorities are:

1. 245/45/17 -> will fit on Cdn TLS wheels
2. Tread wear ->want something long lasting
3. Price -> don't want to take a bath.

The dealer's parts dept has offered me $100 Cdn per tire if I supply my own tires or $125/tire on a trade in.

What do you think is a good performance tire that meets my criteria?

Thus far I've identified:

Potenza RE730
Yoko A520
Dunlop SP9000 - stock tires on my A4, very happy with them

Thoughts?

Alternatively, I could try and make it through the first winter on the all-seasons and explore my options in the spring.

Winters in Toronto tend to be largely slushy and cold icy pavement as opposed to deep snow.

Pirelli Pzeros are good, but if you want a tire just as good, but a little less expensive, go with Toyo Proxys.
Great performance, longlasting, and less expensive.

Bridgestone S-02's
Great grip wet/dry, have some road noise, trammel alittle bit. Not that great for long wear. I had a set for 22k miles(inculding 2 track days). Expensive
PZero Rosso - Quieter than the S-02's. Good grip dry, not as grippy as S-02. Ride is nicer on the roads. Some trammeling. Expensive

Toyo T1-S - good tire for the money!! Slightly nosier than Rosso's, about like the S-02's. Good grip wet/dry. Less expensive!!!. Aggressive tread pattern

S-03's - expensive, little quieter than S-02's, very good grip dry/wet. Maybe best all around tire on the market.

SP9000's - good grip wet/dry, fairly quiet, semi aggressive tread pattern. I like these but again kinda expensive.

For street only I would look at the Rosso's and SP9000's. If you want aggressive tread appearance - T1-S.

I've heard tire sellers talking about a tire wearabilty rating.

Is there a web site where I can compare how long various tires would last?

Lots of people talk about the Potenza RE730 and it looks like a great price at tirerack.com
