Angry New tranny, Rear main now leaks

back in september or cctober, i had the tranny replaced under warranty. They also charged me for some of the labor for the mounts. A month later, i took my car for an oil change, and they told me that rear main is leaking. They did not offer me to replace the main seal while they had the tranny off. I asked a honda tech if anything they did could have damaged the rear main, and he said it's possible. I spoke with the service manager, and he told me that they dont think it's their fault, and that it would cost me 550 to replace. What should i do? if that's a common problem, they should have offered me to replace it while transmission was off. It's been months, and the leak is getting worse.

Call acura? I hear that they can help when the dealership says no.

How many miles are on the car? It's not really a common problem, and they should have replaced it when they did the transmission. My guess is they damaged it because they usually don't leak.

The rear main is actually a problem area on the J32A2 from my reading. Odds of them damaging it with the trans swap is slim, very slim. They dont go near it, nothing goes thru it, they dont take the flex plate off during the swap which protects it.

Don't bitch when calling Acura Customer Services. Just explain your situation, it could be coincident that yours fails after the tranny was replaced. The thing is if they damaged it, it could have leaked then, why after a month, it could have been leaked but you did not know; but it could also a related problem when they were working on the tranny. They can easily deny wrong doing as others said it has nothing to do with tranny.

"A wrong mind mechanic can work on any unrelated thing and could manage to damage anything."
