Im replacing my tranny on my 2000TL tommorow at a reputable dealership. They told me to dro it of at 8:30Am and pick it up at 2:30pm the same day? They are supposed to replace the whole tranny is it really possible only doing it on 6hrs??

Yes, they most likely gave you the billable hours of work. This is the time that the shop manager allows for a "job". Most likely they will have it done well before that as they do have to test drive and do things of that nature.

My mechanic works at Claire Acura in Walpole, MA.

It took a couple of days for mine to get done because they were waiting for the part. They finished it by mid-afternoon when they got the part that morning. So, yeah...that's about right.

Im in Providence also. Own a 02 TL type s with 61K. Car drives fine. Tranny is a little slow shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th in D4 auto. Only use 5th over 60mph. When in trip mode, very slow shifting from 1st to 2nd and when putting in drive from reverse takes a few secs to drop in to D4 (1.5-3 secs). What dealership did you bring it to for your replacement and did they give you a hard time. What symptoms did u notice before replacing and how many miles on yours. Also I have an AEm cold air intake no other mods. Will that void the replacement? thanks...

its possible to have it out and back in sooner then that if you get a tranny specialist doing the job.

The techs are probably so used to swapping out the trannys in these cars they probably have it down to a science now.

The only reason mine took about 3 days is they were waiting on the part to come in.

I brought in into Acura Laval, Near Montreal, Canada. I complained of a whistle noise in 1st gear. The GM took it for a drive and told the service tech to order a new tranny. No problems at all, never any slippage i currently have 140186 Km's on my car.

I picked it up today and wow does the new tranny make all the diffrence my car is actually "FUN" to drive now.
