New TLS owner

I recently picked up my new TLS. Absolutely awesome just the way it is. I have 2 questions:

1. The maintenance schedule says 7500 miles between oil changes ... seems a bit much when I'm used to every 3k. What's the deal?

2. Been reading about a lot of the mods. Some very nice rides in here! Is the AEM CAI worth the $ for the HP? Do you really notice a difference? Does it void the manufacturer's warranty?

Thanks.

scheduled maintenance and oil change is difference. Follow the book with the miles. With the newer cars and with this day and age more high tech oils you don't need to change every 3k, I usually go around 5k.
As for the CAI, I have Injen and even though you'll read that it's not worth it, I think it is. It's not neck snapping difference but in VTEC it's definitely louder and you definitely notice the car breathing easier. Worth the $$$? I think so, but don't look for hp gains, you won't see much, just how the engine breaths. If you want something with a lot of HP for decent $$ get headers. I have OBX which aren't that expensive, get them on ebay. You get about 40hp with headers, probably about 20 to the wheels.
And no, none of these things void warranties. The dealer has to prove without a reasonable doubt that it was an aftermarket product that caused any damage. I have CAI and headers and they changed my tranny with no questions asked.

Here's the link for one on ebay. Just do a buy it now. I think a few guys on this forum bought from him before, he's a great seller. Click below.
OBX Headers

I had the dealer put it in. I think installation was $255.00 I got it done at Park Ace Acura.
Keep us posted if you get headers. I think at that price, everyone should have headers.

Congrats on your purchase. I had a '99 TL-P before I picked up my '03 TL-S a lil' over a month ago. Loving my TL-S...If your looking for an intake that has actual gains, you'd be closest with the Comptech Icebox. If you ask anyone on this site, they will give you about it. I had the AEM CAI on my car for a lil' bit but I decided to sell and get springs instead. The AEM intake is mainly ( I think ) for sound and rpm ranges seemed to widen a lil' as well. I asked my dealership if adding an intake would void the warranty. He said I could add an intake as well as exhausts but no headers since they don't want to be responsible for someone not installing the o2 sensor correctly which results in check engine sign. Again, congrats on your purchase...happy posting
