New Rotors/Pads Break-In

I've read alot about breaking in new rotors and pads by basically performing a number of high speed to low speed braking maneuvers repeatedly, without coming to a complete stop. Question-- is this necessary? Can you simply drive with them normally for a week or so to break them in? I'm just not sure where I'd be able to do these crazy maneuvers without someone calling the police or something. BTW, I'm getting Rotoras and Axxis Deluxe pads.

Nah man, you can break them in by simply "driving" the car normally. You don't have to do those hard stops. I was fairly easy going on the brakes the first 350 miles, but after that I slowly started beating on them. They get a nice beating from me, and they hold up nicely...

just drive...and let the pads and rotors bed themselves.

I don't think it is as important on stock pads and rotors to bed them in. Different story with aftermarket big brake kits. I just changed my brakes on the 540 and bedding them in was required for optimum performance.
Check here for more info breaking in your pads and rotors.

The key is to be easy on them and bed them in gradually for the 1st 500 miles. I would, however, at least make a few slow downs from 30 mph and a few from 60 mph just to get them started OK.

every company has a different way that they want you to break them in. irotors i know said to drive them easy for close to 500 miles, then you need to bed the pads in by repeated stops. it usually consists of 4-6 40 mph to 5mph repeated right away with out stopping, then drive for a little cool down and again 4-6 60to70 mph to 5 mph stops (no abs) followed by a cool down
