New Owner
I am the newly owner of a spanking black 1999 TL 3.2 machine. I have to say I am very happy to be part of the Acura family... I had before a Honda Civic so the step was huge.
I am very happy with the car and the state on which Ive bought it. The car has 132 k Miles and is on pristine condition inside and out. The lady that used to owned it seems like a nice lady that had not abused the vehicle. So now that I have this beautiful machine I have read and read everywhere and I noticed about the failures of the trannys these cars suffer. I went to Acura and registered and plugged my VIN number. On the records shows that my car has 3 recalls on history. 1 of them has been performed. The other 2 not. 1 for tranny and 1 for something with ignition stuff.
Since my car has more miles and years since the warranty was valid and also it says that It has not been performed the recall upgrade... Should I be worry? The car runs very nice and smooth I have yet to feel any sounds or crazy behaviors on the tranny.
Did I just got a lucky car with a good tranny? What suggestions you guys give me? What maintenance procedures should I follow in order to avoid this?
Thanks for help

do you have a 5 speed??,,thats the only ones covered on the recall
to install an oil jet kit- external on the trans to cool 2nd gear
thats the one if they find specific heat damage to 2nd gear = you get a free replacement trans
happened a week ago for a ziner!
ignition switch recall replaces back of switch,,it will need another one 2-3 times in cars life
egr cleans egr ports in manifold,,something we need to diy every 75kmiles
What items did they list?
recalls are always free and are always safety items!
call 1 800 382 2238 x5 = acura care- they send out the recall notices and track compliance..all ViNs must be accounted for-- to the govt on recalls,
or your local dealer service dept to verify whats needed
call dealer for appointment (tues wed thurs best days)
they may have to order a part--been a long time since needed,,,,xyz

was the 105kmiles/7 year major service done??--water pump, timing belt, spark plugs etc?
thats critical to engine life--break that belt or lose a tensioner = start looking for a used engine at junkyard
yours is ready for valve adjustment now as well
trans: get it on the new honda dw-1 atf
and change 3.4 qts every year

Its a 1999 TL and has 4 speed automatic. The ignition switch recall was done.. there was another recall that says as follows:
Your 1999 Acura is included in the 1999 TL; 1998-1999 CL Ignition Interlcok Campaign.
Description
1999 TL; 1998-1999 CL Ignition Interlcok
Type Recall Customer Letter
Status Open
I guess I do have to schedule an appointment for this.. is this critical?
Also, car was serviced at Acura till recently .. but owner told me timing belt job must be done. Currently I have 132.500 k on it and i am taking it easy so in 2 or 3 weeks perform that.
I have some small things to fix on the car like engine bay lever is not holding. Also rear left passenger handle is not opening the door also the window on that same door is not engaging.
I need to find out the full detailed service list to know exactly what was done to it..
Need as much advises in order to avoid a big problem that I might not be able to recover
Thanks for advice.

That left passenger handle seems to be common. My 2000 needed the $22 part and it takes about an hour [at my retiring speed, taking lots of breaks].
"engine bay lever is not holding" - Do you mean the lifters? Mine give out in a stiff wind. I keep a stick of proper length in the trunk. Even when working on my wife's new Subaru, I prop the hood up so that the lifters will not have weight on them.

You will have to learn how to look up this stuff. I PM'd you a link to a page of the Delray Acura web page. You enter your VIN, and it takes you to the proper schematics page. I found it thru the year, make, and model. There are two engines listed for that car, but I doubt it makes a bitta difference. That's why, however the vin is best.

Rear doors handles are under "System Name / Component : REAR DOOR LOCKS".
The outside rear left handle is #30 on the schematic. Maybe you'll want to open up the inside door panel, and poke about a bit to be sure the part is busted [it probably is; plastic doesn't last forever].
Gimmie an email adress and I'll send you a pdf with schematic and prices, if ya can't figure it out.
