Guys I dont even think the chrome will show scratches. I have banged it a couple times and it shows no sign of anything hitting it. It looks so fresh and clean all the time. I am always trying to make it SHINIER

i just got this done tonight...despite the rain and the dark..i was able to finally finish my chrome shift plate...looks super nice
one thing to note is that I picked up PAINT THINNER because thats what I read in another post....and that did not work at all..and i was going to come on and say something like "you guys dont know what you're talking about" until I saw someone say its "PAINT REMOVER" so I drove down to the hardware store and got some paint remover, soaked my shift plate for about 15 mins...and voila...a nice nice chrome shift plate.....no coat of polish needed at all....just a quick rub of a clean dry towel...and you're good to go.
very easy to pop out the shift plate too...just put some elbow grease in it..don't worry, you wont hurt anything.
THANKS TO THE GUYS WHO POSTED THIS MOD....does this mean that my TL isn't stock anymore?...woo hoo...now i can finally put attach a mod to my signature.

But anyways... yeah... getting back to the topic... Has anyone done this with the 2000+ Plates? I was gonna used my friends shiftplate to test it out... lol... but then again...nah.. what if I removed everything??? I hate to imagine the look on his face expecting it to turn out chrome but turned out to be somethan else ugly.

I think the concensus was that it can only be done on the 99's because there wasn't chrome underneath the '00 and up models. But if someone is willing to try it...by all means proceed.
