Ok I just recently purchased an 03 after I sold my Accord. I was changing the spark plugs today and as I got to the last one or so I thought. I pulled the coil pack off (the one closest to the passenger side on the back of the engine), the plug on the coil pack was a bit longer but there wasn't a spark plug there and one won't go in obviously. Sorry for the noob question, but this has stumped me. Thanks

With a missing plug, you would think it would run like crap. The plug on the coil pack was a little longer than the others and the end has metal tip about .5" long with a spring inside. I'll get some pics up later when I get time

Ok I got it out. Is it safe to drive without the rubber boot on? It runs fine and Acura quoted me 62 bucks for a new coilpack since I cant just order the boot. I dont want to replace a coilpack If I dont have to. Thanks
Here is a picture of the rubber boot I'm talking about:

Yeah I got it changed, it sucks to get a new coilpack since there is nothing wrong with mine besides the missing rubber boot. I'll get a new one from the dealer in the morning though. Will it hurt to drive it in the mean time? Thanks

After looking harder, i realized the rubber boot was missong from the coilpack tube and was stuck in the cylinder. After getting a set of long needle nose pliers, I was able to get ahold of the rubber boot and pull ot out. I had to get a new coilpack since I can't just buy the rubber boot which sucks. All is good though, thanks for the input everyone.

Yeah it sucks you can't just buy the boot, I bet this happens a lot. But it makes them more money and we'll pay lol

Any reason you couldnt put the boot back on the coilpack?

Ever hear of ordering on and having it delivered to your house so you dont have to drive anywhere? or local parts store?

I agree--parts stores charge less than 50 bucks for a coilpack

Haha yeah but the 500 miles was me driving to school and my dumbass forgot to bring my toolset to my townhouse down here so I'm gonna be lazy and go to the stealership

I didn't fully plug in the coilpack (same coil ironically) last time I replaced my spark plugs and boy was it a bumpy ride.
Nothing happened to the car and after rechecking the seals and plugging it in properly, not only did I get an amazing response from the car, but I also saw good mpg gains. my car was at 200k and on original sparks, put in NGK iridiums and it felt like I was driving a new car.
that plus intake res removal and mid muff removal and the car sounds great and has much better pick up. sucks your coilpack broke, but such is life no? things happen
