New to me Acura TL

Aloha and hello from Cali by way of Hawaii!!! First off, glad to have found a forum with a lot of info about these Acuras. Been reading some of the threads for general info about this particular car I picked up about 3 months ago. Here we go.
Got an 02 TL type s in white diamond pearl with 241xxx in mid July. It's in immaculate condition considering it's a 13 yr old car. PO had it garaged so nicely done. Pics to come soon.
I did the usual oil change and changed out the battery a couple weeks after signing papers. Air filter was blacked out with dust and debris so I changed that out also.
Ok the fun part. Starter died on me about a month after ownership. Changed that out no problem. About 2 weeks ago, CEL came on so I checked the code...p0420(catalyst). Cleared it to see if it would come back and less than 100 miles it popped up again with another...p1399(misfire). But it ran fine(so I thought). Changed the spark plugs just to be sure. Drove it to work one day and on the freeway it bogged heavily leaving me to drive it home in limp mode. It wouldn't go pass 3000 rpm so backroad was my only way home.
I find this forum with tips about transmission failure, APP sensor out among others. Did some research and finally decided to do the catalytic converter swap.
Went to a shop to get a back pressure test and converter was clogged. Changed it out and now this car is running like a champ!!
Kudos to you guys for giving this car another chance as I might have just took it as a loss and donated it to some charity. Well maybe not that drastic but you get the picture.

My car also had the problem where it wouldn't rev past 3k rpm. misfires as well. it turned out to be one of the six ignition coils. just disconnect the power from each ignition coil and see if the engine rpms change. if it does, put the power back in, and repeat, till you find one that does not affect the rpm's and the "shakiness" of the engine. You have found ur faulty ignition coil!

Hey 808aaha916, welcome to the forums. Sounds like you scored a nice car, although high mileage.

To keep it going I'd change out your transmission fluid every 30K miles - do a 3 quart drain and fill 3x with Honda DW-1.
Also our pesky EGR ports/passages get clogged - I'd visit yours with a few cans of carb cleaner and a straightened coat hanger.
Our engine mounts are also known to go bad at ~75K miles.
Also don't forget about your cabin air filter - behind the glove box.
A quick mod would be to remove your air intake resonator, you'll get a nice loud growl from the front end when you punch the throttle!

Good luck!
