New Fog Light Mod...

I drove my sister's Nissan Maxima recently, and when you put the blinker on, a light comes on to illuminate the way.

Has anyone tried to make it to where when you turned the blinker on, the corresponding fog light comes on?

For those with HID Fog Lights, can HID lights handle the frequent on/off of city night driving? Halogens must be able to because the Maxima's light was halogen.

So someone try it and tell us how it works!

my dads infinit does the same thing...within the foglight there s turn signal illuminator...i dont think that would work for our cars...as far as hids in the fogs, plenty of people have done this and from what i see it holds up pretty well...

Why do you think it wouldn't work?

I checked it last night, and the fogs helped me avoid a lot of deer on my 13 mile trip through the woods. I live in the middle of no where...

so ur saying u drove with the blinker on thru the whole trip?...what i was referring to is when u said if the foglight could blink or have a separate illuminating light in there...but why would u want ur foglight to blink instead of jus staying on where it would be more helpful that way...

No, I didn't drive 13 miles with the blinker on... Lmao.

I just want the fog light on while the blinker is on so you can see in the direction you see turning.

so the bulb turns inside the foglight housing to the direction you are turning?

good luck modifying our fogs to do that.

and no, hids should not be constantly turned on and off. that kills them prematurely.

The maxima have their fog lights pointing onto the side, while the 2g Tl has them pointing straight. The Maxima does not have fog lights, they are turing lights that's why there almsot placed next to the wheel well they point onto the side of the road. our TL's shoot light straight and onto the ground. Even if we tried to do the mod, I dont think it would help alot rather than how the Maxima lights up the side. Just go with HID fogs you'll be really happy.

Ohh.. by the way I was talking about 04-06 Maxima's I don't know about the new ones or if you were talking about the older ones.

Flashing HIDs are a big no no. When you are flasinh HIDs constantly, you color shift them way too fast (when new) and they won't last as long as it has been designed to last for.

You guys, I don't want the fog light to blink. I want it so when you turn on the left blinker, the left fog light comes on and stays on until the blinker goes off.

It may not help much, but we'll see. I'm debating on whether to try it or not.

Do you guys think the Halogens can handle on/off situations?

I get what your saying, my bro's old Taurus SHO has that. I'm sure there is a way to wire it. What he is trying to say is that when he turns his left blinker on, he would like his left fog light to stay illuminated (not flash) so it will light his way.

I wouldn't do that, ppl are gonna think your other fog is broken then.

the difference is that on maximas like stated before they are actually angled towards the sides thus giving you light in that corner of the vehicle. The TL fogs are pointed forward so i dont think it would work out the way you wanted and TL foglights ar not cheap enough to just cut up and take the chance of messing up. I think if you pay attention to how few cars came with those cornering lights you will understnad what the automakers did. Whats the point. when i drive i look in front of my vehicle. If something random hits my car then that is why i pay for insurance

BTW OP where are you from in arkansas?

These are simply called cornering lights, popular on the cadillacs, buicks and other american cars, plus a handful of imports like that model Maxima, a small round light that comes on only when the dusk sensor picks up that it is dark out. Acura and Honda actually offered these cornering light kits as oem add ons on older Accord and Legend models complete with template to cut out the lens on the outer urethane bumper corners.

i think you are talking about corner lights. thats also different
those are just like turn signals but blink.

what the op is talking about is a rare option that looks like a fog light but is angled towards the outside of the car.

this is for when you are making a turn in the dark and want to see whats around the corner.
i know lexus tried making a big deal out of this a while ago but nobody cared. how often are you making turns in the pitch black anyway...

Why not just leave the fogs on at night?
