Post New Car buying Procedure

Hi
This is my first time purchasing a new vehicle. What is the procedure? What happens with the insurance? What happens if I dont want that insurance that they are providing and I want my own? If I finance, is the insurance different? OK..you tell them I want that car...from there what do they do???
Thanks

Well, first negotiate the price at the dealership, then put down a deposit, you then can figure the financing w/the salesman (either a loan through them, your bank, online, etc). When the dealer gets the car, he will call you and tell you the VIN #. You will then tell your insurance company (either the one you currently have, or you can call other insurance co. to cover you) that you are getting a new car and give them the vin# and then they will ask you more info and then they will call your salesman. After that, you get a temp insurance card and you get a check from the place where you financed the car. Go to the dealer with the temp insurance card and check and the salesman will take care getting you the license plates (you pay like $20 for this service, or you can go to DMV yourself). The rest the salesman will take care of.

Do not purchase or even inquire about anything related to insurance at the dealer. They have nothing to do with auto insurance, but if you bring it up they will probably try to sell you credit life insurance, which is a huge ripoff.

Secure a car insurance policy now if you don't have one. It takes times to set one up.
Do that before going to the dealer.
