new to the board

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm new to the board. A few months ago I bought a anthracite 2003 TLS NAVI, with the underbody kit, spoiler and chrome rims. I have about 7,200 miles on it and this car drives great. I'm really worried about the tranny problem and was wondering if anyone with a 2003 had problems yet? I'm crossing my fingers so far so good. Its just a scarey feeling that your tranny can go at anytime. Honda should really do a recall and fix the problem. If i would have known I don't think I would have bought this car.

I also feel that the rear of car rattles at start up. I'm not sure if its the exhaust air hitting the underbody kit or a lose tail pipe. Anyone have this problem?

Thanks for the input.

welcome...nice choice

rattles seem to be a very common thing here, but i have yet to experience that particular one.

as for the tranny, the '03s seem pretty good, not as bad as previous years.

best of luck, what kind of rims are you running?

I bought them from the dealer, the optional chrome that acura offers. I'll takes some pics after I wash the car.

welcome

regarding the tranny - you can go to the acura owner link (http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura) and it will tell you if your car is included in the tranny warrantee extension.

Now, with that you can think of it in two ways. If you ARE covered that could be good because you have 7yr/100k miles warrantee on the tranny. It could be bad because you MAY suffer the failure.

If you ARE NOT covered that could be good because you probably won't suffer the failure. It could be bad because you won't have the 7yr/100k miles warrantee on the tranny.

If you're familiar with the LA Times article that was my mug shot in the article. Believe me I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone and I dearly hope that they have fixed the problems. I for one am not convinced because my replaced tranny which I was told had the upgraded 3rd gear clutch pack and torque converter, died after only 512 miles. I'm holding steady on tranny #3 and hope that it lasts.

I don't know, I'm rambling. Just drive the car, enjoy it, and if it fails, roll with the punches.

Well, it seems everyone answered your question about the tranny.

As for the the rattle... I'm not familiar with this. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it's the ABS self-test you're hearing? That noise is a short 1-2 second buzz kind of sound... but when the car is cold is can kind of vibrate under you.

Anyway, welcome to the board and I look forward to the pics!!
