Need Suggestions! Paint rubbed onto door panel

So today I was trying to park into a pretty snug parking space at San Francisco Union Square Parking Lot. While parking I accidentally rubbed my door onto one of those pillars and the paint rubbed onto my car. I dont have any dents thank god. I was wondering whats the best way to remove all the paint that was rubbed onto my car? Are there any products I can buy to remove the paint that was rubbed on?

NO NO NO, do NOT use rubbing compound on some paint scuffs. Rubbing compound is literally liquid sand paper, you will do much more damage with it. Polishing comp. is the way to go.

well the polishing compound didnt work because i think the paint that came off the pole was really thick. I took it to a local body shop and the guy used some type of liquid and it wiped everything off. He then waxed it for me everything for free.

He probably used rubbing compound. Yes, rubbing compound is literally liquid sandpaper, however, it is made to remove very fine scrathes. It is less abrasive than 2000 grit sandpaper. You would be fine using it on clearcoat as long as you didn't go over it to many times and waxed it after you were done.

From 3M's website:

3M™ Perfect-It™ II Rubbing Compounds
Specially designed medium-cutting compound for removing grade 1200, 1500 and 2000 color sanding scratches in automotive paints including clear coats. Unique formulation. Produces minimal compound swirl marks while buffing to a high gloss.

That was awfully nice of him. Remember that and send him some business if you get the chance.

It was most likely thinner or reducer that he used. My friend had his car vandalized where they sprayed white spray paint on his black maxima I used reducer and thinner and wiped it all right off. Then waxed it afterwards.

I'd try the claybar first before the rubbing compound. The claybar is made to remove surface crud like an eraser on pencil marks and doesn't chemically work on the paint. As always, be sure to wax/polish after.
