Need recommendation for Baby Car Seat

Hey all,
My baby is 5 months old and he almost out grows the infant car seat that we bought. I would to find out if there is any great baby car seat in the market that would fit nicely in TLS's middle back seat.
If you have the brand name, price and web site, it would be really nice.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers !!!

This one doesn't fit too well in the center (nor do I have it there), but it is a fantastic car seat-

Britax is generally regarded as among the safest of seats out there.

I have the Cosco Eddie Bower. Its not too bad. The damn little seatbelts get tangled all the time though. I have the previous gen (non Latch). Whatever you buy should be LATCH compatible. Everything sold as new, buy law, is now supposed to have it.

Make sure you install the seat backwards until your baby is a year old. The baby's neck is still too weak and if you stop suddenly he/she could get whiplash.

One thing I really liked about the newborn snap in seat was that when the baby fell asleep her neck was well supported. In the new seat its very easy for her head to hang down when she is asleep.

Also, if you don't know, find out who does car seat inspections in your area. This service should be free and is probably offered by the police or first aid station. They can tell you if the seat is installed correctly or not. 80%+ of carseats are not installed correctly.

My bro in law is a doctor and he recommended against getting a seat that has too wide a weight range. "a seat that does everything will do nothing really well".

Anyhow, any seat that can go rear facing from 5 to 40lbs as long as it meets fairly current standards should do fine. We have an evenflo (and I'm sure you know that your baby should be rear facing as long as possible and especially during the first year where they don't have strong neck muscles)

Why the middle seat? We put ours behind the passenger which makes loading/unloading much easier.

Main reason why I put the seat in the middle is for safety reasons. I figure that it has to be the safest seat in the car. God forbid someone hits you in the rear door pretty good chance the baby wouldn't get injured (atleast not as bad).

Yup yup ... totally agree with doopstr. The other reason is the rear side airbag. I am not sure if TLS has it or not but if the side airbag exploded for some reason, it might impact the baby in the car seat as well.

The bad part about the back seat in TLS is that the contour makes it hard for the car seat to be installed in the middle of the seat. I have to use a few towers to secure the base from swaying left and right.

I put my seat on the passenger side, because it fits. In the center, it obstructs my rear view some. I figure any gain in safety is negated by preventing me from having a clear view of the goofball behind me who forgot to hit his brakes (I always look for things like this- it has saved me twice).

On another note- have you ever actually known anyone whose baby was severely injured, because the child was sitting in a (properly restrained- this is important) car seat on one side, as opposed to the center. I don't. It's curious how we worry so much about things that hardly ever happen (the side impact rear door event), yet pay little mind to things that DO happen (so many people still smoke in their homes with children, intentionally speed in heavy traffic when the kid is in the car, following too closely, etc.).
