Lightbulb Need quick - '03 Dealer pricing w/ 4K miles.

I went to my Acura dealer today and they had a 2003 TLS w/ navi Demo for sale. Said they would give it to me for $30,000. Car has 3900 miles on it. Invoice for the car new per Edmunds is $30,510.

What do you think would be a good deal? I was thinking of saying $30,000 out the door, tax & tags included, but my buddy thinks I can do better.

They are giving me $11,500 for my non-navi '99, which I think is a pretty fair deal, considering it has 71K miles.

I got my car for 30,010 and with 8 miles on it.. so there is no reason why you should have to pay that price! Like got_3.2? said, someone got it for 29,300 I think.. so talk it down to like 26,500 and then u'll settle somewhere in the 27000 or 28000, but remember the dealer has a 1500 dollar kick back..so he can go below invoice on that car. That car is not worth 30,010 since its got the miles on it. Plus the new 04's are comming out, so he needs to get rid of the car. Hold your ground and bargain it tough! Good Luck!

$30k is a little too much for 03TL-S w/navi DEMO. Since 2004 version is coming out, you should be able to get a good deal on a BRAND NEW TL-S w/navi.

Cheers !!!

The trade in on your 99 also seems low. If you're willing to sell it on the open market, KBB lists private party value at $14K for one in good condition. Take a look at Acura.com and look at what they're selling their certified pre-owned cars at for an idea.

if you getting 11.5 for your trade thats pretty good considering you will get tax advantage. As for your new car purchase i think you should hold out the fair price for the car would be somewhere like 10-20% under invoice. Since the money is in your pocket just hold out and play their game. .. Good Luck

I'm gonna roll the dice and offer them $27,000 tomorrow, and I will demand $12,000 for my '99.

Unfortunatley I owe $12,600 on my '99. To get it up-to-par to private sell, I'll need rotors resurfaced ($150), a front windshield (small crack- $250 SafeLite or $550 Honda glass), a MD inspection ($80) and a good exterior detail ($125). So I need to put like $650 into it to get prob around $14,000-$14,500. If the dealer gives me $12,000, I'll basically break even and run with it.

Negative man, tell them to pay off your car first, work that deal first, then move on to the selling price of the TLS, like the other guys said, the new '04 is coming so they want to make a deal, don't be a fool, you don't loose if you don't get the car they do if they don't sell it.
I don't know how it works in Baltimore but if you have a craked windshield here in FL. it gets replaced FREE by law.
You never want to be upside down when you are getting a new car, they will put that money that you owe right on the new loan and you're even worst. Good luck!

yah there's no need for them to charge you that much. I got an A-spec about 5.5 months ago and the list price on it was 43 800. I saw a demo with 2000km on it at the dealer last week, and they're asking 38 500 for it. Trust me, they're still making sh*t loads of money on the car, even priced that low. You should definitely talk the guy down in price, otherwise take your business to another dealer.

You guys don't think $27,000 is a good deal for an '03 with 3k? The only reason I'm worried is because I want a SSM w/ Navi, and the regional inventory is extremely low.

I figure the invoice is $30,500 minus the current $1500 Acura dealer incentive. And I'm taking 2K off for mileage.

Kelly Blue Book trade on my '99 is $11,130.
Edmunds is $12,479
NADA is $13,800
Black Book is $14,500

Average of $12,900.

As per KBB, an '03 TLS w/Nav and 3k miles is worth 31,850.
Now that's using the Jax zip code.
What I'm trying to say is that because the new model is coming out, you should get a better deal. 27k is not bad, you want to start as low as you can, and I'm talking out the door(tags, tax everything).

I just bought (last week) an '03 TLS W/Navi, W/Spolier, W/Pinstripe, W/Wheel Locks, W/Extra Burlwood Trim around dash and W/Woodgrain Steering Wheel. The car had 3,400 miles on it and you cannot tell it from new.

I paid $27,800 - No trade. That did not include sales tax in Massachusetts (which ran a cool $1,200).

I guess the price have gone down a lot after reading some of the prices u guys paid. I know i paid back in August of 2002 for a '03 TLS with Navi $31,010 plus taxes. It had 11 miles on it.

I thoght i got a good deal but i guess that were the prices back then. So u should def haggle cuz a Demo is like a used car. and IMHO demos are never a good deal UNLESS ur getttin it for a steal!

Dont forget dealerships are not "non-profit organizations" and they provide jobs in your community. Just because its a demo doesn't change the cost of the unit to the dealership, it's still titled as a new car.

OK- Went in this afternoon and offered $27,000 for the car, no trade (wouldn't give me more than 11.5K on the '99). Dealer acknowledged the $1500 Acura-Dealer incentive, and said the min he could take is $29,093. I said I'll pay that OTD with taxes and tags. He said $30,950 OTD. I walked.

I kinda screwed because I called every Acura dealership in MD and nobody has any '03 SSM with Navi. All the used '02 or '03's have big time miles on them (like 25K+).

Guess I'll wait and lease an '04.

30,950 is too much for it now that the '04 is coming out, wait and get that one if you can afford it, hope you can, let us know if you get it. Good luck.

Don't think the 2004TL is going to be the better car just because it's newer. If you like the 2003 body style and can get it for a reasonable price, go for it. That's what I did.

My personal opinion is that the 2003 TL-S with Mods will out perform a 2004 on the street. We're at 260HP and the 2004 is at 270HP with Cold Air already added. You will not be able to add headers to the 2004 to get the significant "Bump" in HP that you can with a 2003 TL-S. Many of the new features of the 2004 are a "nice to have" for me but I'm going for the bang for the buck. If you want to go spend the money and get the 6MT, that's another story. This will also be my daily driver so I just want the convienience of the auto. Plus, many of the mods for the 2003 can be found used for a reasonable price.

Give me a minute to put on my flame suit:argue:

I just bought an '03 Type-S, no Nav., salesman's demo, with only 1,000 miles, in the colors that I was looking for, for just under $27,000, They said that is what they paid for the car after the $1500 marketing support, which sounds about right. They had offered me $27,150 two weeks ago on a new one, but they ended up selling them all this week after I announced their price all over the internet forums. I was able to get them to sell me the wood steering wheel for cost. I didn't really care about the 1,000 miles, and was hoping for at least another $500 off of the original price, but in the end, I'm happy with the additional $200 savings. Even if they could go lower, I think I still did pretty good getting it for under $27,000.

That 1,000 miles sure made the drive home a lot more fun! It's already broken in. Also, it has a July 2003 build date, so the transmission should not have any problems.

I guess that puts me at like $28,500 with Navi. Maybe that's the magic number. I'm gonna let it ride until Tuesday, the last day of the month, and see if they give me a call.

Hey fdefulvio, I live in Baltimore now, but I grew up in Medford. Went to college in '90 and never came back.

I graduated from Lenape HS in '81.

You're probably not going to be able to get the dealer to go below his cost. If you don't buy it, somebody else, with less knowledge, will give them their price. You may have better luck trying to finding another new car from a different dealer. You may have a problem finding a Nav. though.

My wife and I were talking with another couple while we were waiting for our car to be detailed, and they didn't know anything about the new '04 or even the TSX. I'm guessing they were unaware of the $1,500 marketing support. We didn't talk much about price, but they were looking at another salesman demo with about 3,000 miles. 3,000 miles probably would have been my limit for a demo. Anything over that, and I don't think I would have gone for the deal. Luckily I got there early enough and got the one with only 1,000 miles. That one also was the color we were looking for. White/parchment. I think the darker colors look better, but I don't have time to take care of the cars like I used to.

Cool Update

Finally waited til today- last day of the month- to make my final deal. Again, it was a TLS w/ navi demo - but the finance manager has also been driving it to and from the dealership every day for 3 months. The car has 3500 miles on it, but besides 2 very small chips on the hood (which are getting fixed tomorrow) it is immaculate.

After like 10 phone calls back and fourth and a lot of d*icking around, I got the car for $30,400 OTD plus wheel locks, all season mats and 3 free oil changes(whoopee). I tried to play hardball as much as I could. They originally said $31,010 plus taxes and tags. I really wanted the car for $29,500 OTD, but they wouldn't budge. I think they were aware of the fact that there are no SSM TL-S navi's left in the area.

So, I got the car for $2210 below invoice. Yea, it has 3k miles, but so what, I pick it up tomorrow.

Didn't go for the trade in. Anyone want to buy a '99 TL-P w/ 71K??:wow:

Can I get a copy of this letter, please? You guys are all getting amazing deals. I don't know if it is because I live in Los Angeles, CA, but the prices out here are outrageous compared to what some people here are posting. If someone gets a deal like that anywhere in Southern California, please let me know. Thanks.
