need a new radio/cd player

Hi guys!

I've recently had trouble with my OEM stereo/cd player lately. It came up with a "ER-E1" code after trying to put in a 4th cd. Cd player stopped working so I took out the entire stereo; extracted the 4 CDs inside and now it just flashes "CHEC." Won't load any CDs.

So I figure its done for.

Now where do you guys go to buy a new one? I see people on ebay selling the same OEM stereo I have, but since I am going to buy a new one, how about an off-brand? Like one that can play cd's, my ipod and maybe even pandora stations? (perhaps the latter is too unrealistic and costs too much?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Try car-parts. if you go aftermarket get a double din dvd player setup. I prefer the oem look or double din only downside with aftermarket you will have to run and solder wires for the factory sub to work again

Carparts.com ?

Unless I have poor navigation skills, I am only seeing 4 products: (for my car anyway).
Car Stereo Radio | CarParts

I was hoping soldering was not an option and that these stereos would use the connectors from the old stereo.

Would something like this be good?
http://www.amazon.com/BOSS-Audio-812...473507&sr=1-42
or
http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Double...1%2C6145554011

Would I still need to solder anything or can I just use the existing wires?

Did you buy it online or at a store? And how much did it cost?

Just saw a video of one in a TL, looks good. Does the Pioneer plug and play or are there any modifications needed?

I am in the same boat as OP, I want to upgrade but want to keep the OEM speakers/sub.

Thanks

get the dash kit with the wire harness in it. the harness plugs in the factor harness. you connect the new radio harness to the dash kit harness. all wires are color coded. youtube: pioneer radio to factor harness. its easy...

So my friend helped me put my new radio in today. It works well; except for the subwoofer. And looking around the internet it seems this is a common theme. Unless I am missing something; I will need to do more work to get my stock sub working again?

Thanks!

You will need to hook the stereos remote turn on to the sub amp behind the rear seat, and splice in (get a line converter or cut up a pair of RCAs) to the speaker inputs on the amp)

I found another thread describing the whole process. But how about the other method people are mentioning? Such as this:

Is one more difficult than the other or would there be any differences in the end?

Thanks!
