Exclamation Need a new paintjob!

I have decided to repaint the whole car after someone keyed most of it. How many Layers of what kind of paint and how many layers of clearcoat should i get if i wanted to get a nice paintjob, keeping it within reasonable limits (what do you guys think the average amount an insurance company is willing to pay for a complete paint job).

Also Does anyone know of a reputable paintshop in the sacramento/stockton/modesto area? Im willing to drive out of my way to get a good job because i've had it with our stock paint. Thanx

Bettolucis in sacramento is the best (www.bertoluccis.com)- the do lots of show cars so they really know what they're doing. For a show car type paint job, you're looking at 8-10K (my friend just got a quote for his ride). For a regular good paint job you're looking at atleast 1-3K, but unless the car got keyed the whole way around, the insurance company won't pay for a pull paint job will will limit to paiting the affected pannels and then blending across the other ones. Avoid the Earl Shieb and Macco places unless you like overspray and want the paint to fail in a few years.

Best idea is to get a few coats of paint and several layers of clear. Then, you can buff the clear to undo any defects and ripples.

How much of your car did they key? Unless they keyed every single panel, the insurance company won't just give you money to repaint your car. Even if it's more than half, they will only give you taht much.

For complete paint based on 2-stage (basecoat & clearcoat) is about $4500~6000. It'll take 3~4 weeks to complete.
