need help - installing rear struts
ok guys i am tired and annoyed. I replaced one of my rear struts (will do the other later) and for some reason the top center bolt will NOT stay down when I lower the car and drive. it shoots up like it was not tight at all...since the rears dont really need a spring compressor I just put the spring over the new strut and pushed it all to the top then 1st tightened the 2 14mm bolts that hold it all together to the car body. then I put the bottom 17mm bolt that holds the strut assembly to the car together. then I tightened the top center bolt for a while but it never really got tight...
should I have tightened this bolt BEFORE putting it all on the car?

it sounds like you forgot a washer or spacer or something when you assembled the shock and spring.
i had this same problem when i installed my KYBs and Eibachs. i took it apart, messed around with the setup, but it would still clank around when i drove.
i ultimately solved this problem by getting coilovers

ok thanks for the diagram - last night I was not in the mood to take it all apart again. I know I left off #3 so I will take it all down and look through it again. regarding the #1 washer, do you need to use the stock one or the one that came with the strut? because a bigger, thicker one came with the strut but maybe it was meant to be the #2 washer...?

And make sure the rubber bushings (#7) go in the way they are pictured in the diag above and not the tapered way down.
