Need help: car was scratched up badly from car ding
If only I saw who did it.... just a couple days ago I notice a HUGE scratch, followed buy several small scratches left from someone not being careful when opening their car door. I have a NBP and the scratches left a white mark on it. So it is very noticeable! Boy, was I pisssssed off when I saw it. Is there anything I can try to fix the scratch or am I left with having to get my passenger door re-painted? Any suggestions....

Well, your first plan of attack should be some rubbing compound. My guess would be that the rubbing compound would remove the white marks, but if the scratch is deep enough, then your stuck with it.
If that's the case, I would try some touch up paint first. If you can't live with that then you might get some estimates a body shop, but it will cost you!
Sorry to hear about that and good luck!

What color is your car? If it's white diamond pearl don't bother re-painting because it will look sucky. I had a post on another subject about how I just bought mine and someone painted the bumper covers and 2 front fenders, even though the car is all original--somebody could have scratched the fender as well, who knows. I verified it wasn't in a previous accident. Moral of the story....my fenders are slightly off because pearl is almost impossible to match. Only one of us car gurus would be able to tell by close examination but to me it looks sucky. My only main complaint with the car. Re-paint as a last resort. Most body shops won't mess with it. One quoted me $1400 to match it, and they deal in exotic cars. Try to take it to a professional who can do the paintless dent removal, then have him use a buffer and take the scratch out, then wax the car.

check http://www.autopia.org/ they have a really in depth forum area on products for detailing and another forum for detailing techniques (there is more threads but these two refer to the topic in discusion).
You will find plenty of options there...some really really expensive cars on that site..

most marks that are "white" can be buffed out. those are usually just clear coat scuffs. get some sort of polishing compound like scratchx or a "FINE" cut cleaner by meguairs and rub the effected area with those

Is the scratch on your car a scratch down to the primer -- or is it just paint transfer from the car that hit yours ? If it's paint transfer, try a clay bar to remove it first.
