Would buying a 02-03 TL S be a waste of time and money because from what I understand this car has a piece of crap tranny even when replaced and crappy motor mounts, and I also understand alot nof the warranties are expired or going to expire because it is 2009. I dont want to get the car and have to worry about the crap tranny dying on me and then having to pay $4000 for Honda's/Acura's dumb mistake.

the trans warranty is 7 years 9 months or 109k miles
the front motor mount is often found bad after 60k miles- they are trick units -oil fluid filled and vac boosted
If you can get an extended aftermarket warranty that covers the trans its ok to get a TL of that vintage
BUT not all 03s are covered by the 7 year warranty, have to check VIn to know for sure
Based on your concerns I would suggest a regular honda- the TL needs 91 octane while other hondas are 87 octane,,cheaper to operate and better trans

drive what you love and be happy dumping money into it or drive something you dont really love and deal with it. also depends on price of car too if you getting great deal and tranny dies spend 4 grand and still spend less then it is really worth still worth it to me. but thats just me. if your asking maybe you dont like the car as much as some of us do.

The 2nd generation TL is a solid sedan! Do NOT let a couple tranny horrors story frighten you out of a very reliable vehicle. Having the TL under warranty would give you a piece of mind, but don’t let the transmission be the final decision because I’m sure other members like myself can attest to going over +100k millage with out any problems. GL on your search!
