Need a good professional detailer

In the Detroit area.

I just Zaino'd my car in a dusty place. I'm gonna cry.

Need to remove the swirls.

for the price of a good detail you can get the porter cable polisher and do it yourself. It's very easy, results are great ... and you have it for the future.

I don't know of a place to actually do it myself since I live in an apartment.

Also I'm wondering if many of the swirls/small scratches are actually just scratches in the layer of Zaino already there. But that's probably wishful thinking.

Most likely the scratches are in the surface of the paint. I would think if you had a decent day that wasn't windy you could still do it outside, the polishing can be done in an hour. Another option is to see if a local school auto shop would let you do it there during down time or a weekend, I rented out a paint booth at a local school to paint my car in over a weekend ... cost me $50.

The paint on this car was in horrible shape straight from the dealers lot, looked like they washed it with a scotchbrite pad.

I had mine detailed, then did the polishing myself with the porter cable to take out the swirls, fine scratches ... it turned out really nice.

Zaino

if your going to apply a poly like that you should start with a smoooth finish -

wash
clay
wash
paint cleaner
polish

then zaino (not to insult ya if you already knew it)

out of curiosity you didn't apply the zaino in a circular motion did you?

that's cool then

I have only worked with UPP but they are similar..so how does the swirling show up? in reflection, straight on sight or from dust, condensation on the car?

If it is the first two then you will need to prep the paint (if it is light enough swirling then you can probably get rid of it by hand - use 3M Swirl Mark Remover or something similar, be sure it is clear coat safe!!) -

if it's showing up via dust/condensation then it's not really swirl marks per se..but rather the dust/condensation forming on the poly coat as applied. (happens with wax too)

Ok. I broke and I got the exterior wheeled today. They only used the red pad and the black pad. Not sure what that means, but they did not use the wool one. All the swirls I put in are gone. Some swirls are still there that are deeper but for the most part, my car looks almost new again. Cost $110 and that included putting on 2 coats of Z2 for me (using my own stuff). Even did my wheels for me.

They used a rotoary

and still there were swirls left? hmmmm...red and black pads - depending on the maker - red is for cutting/polishing/swirl removal and black is for application (waxes, zaino, what have you)

110 is good for the whole car, wheels included.

Got it done at Birmingham Auto Detailing in Royal Oak. They did not go very aggressive on my paint because I was weary. I think they only used swirl remover and maybe a polisher. I think he said the wool is for heavy cutting.

yeah

wool is for deep scratches - but hard to beleive a rotary even with foam pads left swirls ;( ? Those baby's can generate the heat.
