Need to buy new wax what do you guys recomend?
Hello all,
Well now that I have a 03 TLS I want to take good care of the finish. I have been doing some reading and it seems the German car finishes are different than the Japanese car finishes I believe the Japanese finishes use a acrillic clear coat system not sure what the Germans use. To date I have been using 3M Imperial hand glaze then a coat of Blitz 1G paste wax gives very good results for my Audi but my Audi has a different finish than my Acura so any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.
Oh my Acura is Antrecite is that helps
Thanks,
Norcalsguy
Forgot to add there is a wax called zymol Japon supposedly made for Japanese car finishes and another by the same company called Zymol NSX I assume specially formulated for the Acura NSX? Anyone here with experence with these waxes?
Down side many $$$$:wow:

I think once people start responding, you will get a lot of votes for Zaino. It is a mailorder wax that works great (and is very easy to apply). Do a search on "zaino" or you can go to their website www.zainobros.com
I've been using it for years and love it. Worked great on my 1990 Honda Accord and made the original paint look like a mirror. Also looks great on my SSM TLS.

can't go worng with Griot's products
I'm not sure about what products are best for different types of paints. A lot of people like the P21S stuff. But again....it's german and maybe more designed for German paints. I have no idea about that. There must be a fundamental difference in german and japannese paints based on the warranty differences you see on paint for german and japanese cars. I use Meguiar's carnuba wax. I got it at Autozone. I think the stuff works great. Makes my silver car shine pretty well. As far as Zaino goes. It gives a great shine, and it's very easy to buff. Most waxes are a workout to buff. But Zaino a polish....according to Griot's detailing guide....you want to use wax for protection and a some shine, THEN polish for deeper shine and a little protaction. From reading that, I understand the wax to be more for protection while the polish is more for asthetics. So in the interested of keeping my paint looking great over the years....I want to protect it with a nice wax. I don't bother to polish since my car is silver and there isn't too much more you can do with light colors as far as the shine goes. Your Audi has a 12 year paint warranty...your Acura probably has 6....I'd make sure the Acura has some wax (under the polish) on it if you decide to use a polish.

clay bar is a definite must. don't waste your money on those expensive "paint preps" though, a quick wash with regular dawn dish soap will remove any old waxes, and give you a great base to start applying the new wax. just don't use it on a regular basis.

Hmm it seems not only here but on other forums people are saying Zaino ok I'll give it a try. I do use the clay bar only when I notice that after a wash the surface feels rough you must remember when using the clay bar you are micro sanding your clear coat as well as pulling the impacted grit out of the paint.
