Need to Battery, What to get

I am needing to replace my battery in my 2000 TL. Couple of things. Is this something we can do ourselves without any problems to the computer or anything else internally? Also, does an Optima battery fit into the stock battery location without any mods? Thanks.

you shouldnt have any problems installing an optima battery. only thing i see is that you have to remove the plastic battery cover from the car but those batterys look nice so i was more then happy to remove it. those batterys are well worth the money, youll see when you get it

yea i would get the optima. great battery. all you have to do is disconect the battery and reconect it. but before doing that make sure you have the radio code and write down you station presets for added convience when reprograming them

You can see from my sig that I have all aftermarket stereo equipment so the code is not a factor. I am wondering however, is it really worth the extra money over just a regular battery from Walmart. I mean, we are talking 3 times the cost. Is it 3 times better??

3 times better should mean that it lasts 3 times longer, but I don't think it will. Optima batteries are made using gell cell technology, that's what boosts the cost.

ive been runing them in my cars for for atleast 7 years and have never had a problem with them. they are WELL worth the price difference especially if you have a stereo. you can drain them over and over and it doesnt damage them like conventional batteries, where the plates warp.

I went ahead and bought a cheap one for now. It will buy me some time to find something better. I found the yellow top on ebay for $115 shipped. Sounds like a good deal?

I had one in my wifes truck for four years before I traded up. You can`t kill them, I`ve jump a bunch of cars and trucks off of it. It has a gel center, you never have to check the water level. You can`t go wrong with this one. Optima is the top of the line.

I actually work for Johnson Controls , which is the company that owns optima battery company, and i am intitled to 2 a year at the lovely price of 70.00 shipped to my door!!
I am gonna get one for my car before winter comes , probably in about a month or so!
but they are the best, here is some info on them

Inside this unusual battery is a six-pack of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Traditional batteries have a stack of thick lead plates surrounded by acid. But OPTIMA® batteries feature two thin lead plates wound into a tight spiral cell, with an absorbent glass-mat in between to hold the electrolyte solution. This unique design allows for more power and increased energy, resulting in quick, reliable starts. OPTIMA batteries are the first and only batteries to feature SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY.

It'll last up to 2 times longer than other batteries.
It can sit unused 3 times longer than other batteries.
It is over 15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.
It's nonspillable and can mount in almost any position.
It provides constant performance quality keeping your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
It provides more power in the inital 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the vehicle starting process than comparably rated conventional lead acid batteries.

What's the difference between the red and yellow top Optimas? Does one have more cranking power than the other?

Guys,
I have posted this type of response before on a similar thread so I apologize for the redundancy. I have gone out to the optima battery site and input the car info as a 99TL. According to the manufacturer of this battery (based on the web site) there is NO optima battery that works with any 99-03 TL.

Can someone please clarify which battery they are using when optima says that there are none that will work
