Question Need Advice...might trade in TL-S

Ok, I am not trying to draw flames here and this may be slightly OT but it does involve my 03 TL-S so any advice would be appreciated....I have the chance to trade in my car (16K miles, no navi, no spoiler, no bodykit, just ase tls) + $7500 for a 2001 Porsche Boxster. The boxster has chrome turbo wheels, manual, full leather interior, sport kit, and only 8k miles. It is certified by dealer and is still under warranrty for a while so that doesnt bother me. I also believe that it will hold its value so I can trade it in for a good price on the 04 TL when it comes out while my car currently is dropping value faster than the porsche would...

any opinions? anything I haven't thought about?

thanks...

It's got two doors rather than four and no storage space to think of. The top is notorious for leaks and motor problems. It's not a Boxster S, and if you can't drive you migth find it slower than your TL-S...

However, it is a Porsche and it will outhandle just about anything else on the road...Chicks will dig it!!!

Yeah, for your woman's makeup bag in one and a bag for shoes in the other!
Try going off for four days and nights in one and see what I'm talking about. Or buying groceries for the month for the family...
If it is a third car, great, if not...think of all the sacrifice you'd make...

Did you think about insurance? Driving a Porsche is a whole different class of cars when it comes to insurance. And its not a good class to be in price wise.

Maybe where you're from, car insurance isn't required or it isn't as expensive as around here (or in NJ), but I would estimate that you'd be paying at least double if not triple for your car insurance on the boxster.

And if you're going to buy a '04 TL in September, you've only got a couple of months, the value on your '03 TL-S won't drop $10,000 between now and September unless you wreck it. $7500+tax, tags etc for the Porsche, plus insurance.. It will add up!

I had a 99 Boxster for 4 years and now have a TL-S. I traded the Box for reasons of practicality only. I loved the car. Reliable, quick, unbelievable handling, BRAKES, etc. The top was always perfect in all weather. Never a leak. If its a 2nd or 3rd car or if your are single go for it. Also, in the NY area, my insurance was only $100 per year more than on the TL-S. Great car. Great fun. Also, the trunks were plenty big enough for a long weekend trip and even the occasional run to Costco. You should note, however, if you are not good with the clutch and stick, you will be slower from 0-30 than in the TL-S. Also, clutch drops will very quickly destroy the clutch. The Box is NOT a car for stoplight races. Its all about the handling.
