Navigation doesn't work in cold

My navigation sysytem does not work in the cold weather, it tells me that the door is open or disk is not formatted , but it works fine in the hot weather, i never had a problem with it untill this year.
So i can't use it at all, has anyone had the same problem or know what i can do?

thanx
fred

I would try taking out the disc and cleaning it and then also check the door to see if maybe its not closing correctly.

Just turn the car on and off when that happens - be fine. Happens to me below 30 degrees.

i wish it was that easy guys, i have tried both, cleaning the disk did not work and turning the car off and on doesn't work either as the system just goes directly to that message, but it works fine in the summer time!

seems like it would be some kind of bad connection. Did you check the contacts on the dvd door?

Yes i have cecked the contacts on the dvd door and also all the wire connections in the back, i'm thinkin maybe something went bad in the unit itself. I will have the dealer check it out next time i'm in for a oil change!

Not sure what that could be but if you do bring it to the dealer ask if they have a nav tech. I brought mine in for a nav problem and they said I needed a new dvd unit. So I brought it to another dealer and the nav tech told me it was just a ground that came loose. Saved me about $3000.

Just curious, do you have a original DVD or is it a burned copy. When I bought mine used I had the same problem when it got cold out. Went to check the disk out and it was a burned copy, I called the dealer and made them buy me a new factory DVD. Never had a problem since.
