Navigation 3.4 or 2.20?

Navigation 3.4 or 2.20?
I have a 2001 Acura TL - I've been told I can use either. Has anyone tried both in there older Acura? I'm curious if you get more features or less since I'm guessing the 3.4 was made for the new navigation systems perhaps hardware issues would reduce functionality.
