Question Navi voice only gives partial first instruction

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

When I map a route for the first time after I turn on the car, the first instruction which is usually "Proceed to the highlighted route" almost always comes out just "ed route". The whole beginning is cut off. Every instruction after that is fine. If I press the "Voice" button right after it screws up that first time, it says it correctly. This isn't that big of a deal to me, since I pretty much get the idea, but if this isn't "normal" I'll ask my dealer about it at the first maintenance.

Little quirks aside, I love the Nav system!

Same thing happens with mine. Love it also, will put info in even if I've been there a hundred times! Navi needs to expand their database in some outlying areas though.

Yeah, that happens to mine also. Not all the time, but sometimes.

Yeah, I would also like to see a larger database. It's on a DVD, after all, they should be able to pack it full of addresses! But I'll take what I can get for now. :p

Well, that would certainly be wonderful. If any of you out there gets the upgrade, let us know if it's worth it.

How would you find out what the upgrade will have, prior to buying it. Would you contact Acura or Alpine, the manufacturer?

I'm just going to wait until someone else in the forum picks it up.

If it adds signficant detail to the CT/MA area or a new feature that I think is worth having now, I would probably get it. Otherwise, I'll wait until the next one.

Good post! I was thinking that I had a defective DVD. I feel better now, but Acura should get that fixed.

I just began to notice this problem too, and I've only had mine a week!!

What did you do about it? Is it something defective, to be resolved with the dealer?

I think this is a software bug. The problem only appears if you don't have your audio on and enter a destination. Whenever the Navi wants to say something, you can hear a relay "click" in the subwoofer area. In this case, I think a software bug causes the Navi to start speaking before the relay kicks in, so all you hear is "...ed route".

I'm sure they'll fix it in the next release... sounds like a minor problem to me.

Cool - thanks for the info. Yeah, it is pretty minor - but when someone new get's in your car and they want to hear the voice, it's that first impression thing that something doesn't work right! (Even though, really, the first impression is when they're walking towards it and it just looks awesome - then you open the door and they're just floored - this is a sweeet car!!)

I'm glad you think it's software related and will potentially be fixed in the next release. I'll look forward to that, as even my office building (or the street it's on) doesn't show up on the current version, but it was completed about 2 years ago! I hope it's on the next one.

Thanks!
