navi question

navi question

i have a simple question on my 02TLS it always shows an N at the top left corner of the navi screen. Can you guys tell me what it means cuz its there all the time. I dont have the manual for the car so i would appreciate your help. The reason why i asked is because my navi hasnt been working for the past three months i tried everything and i cant find nothing wron, all it says is proceed to the highlighted route..... Please help me out....

That little N, if notice, is not always pointing up, sometimes it points different direction (that is when you use driving directions). That is your North. In one of the modes (I believe it's in situation when you use driving directions), you can touch this N and change screen from always having North on the top to having your car direction pointing up on the screen.

but why would it always say N and not E,W,S?

Black arrow is always pointing north. But there are two modes: 1) on the first three or four smallest map scales you have a choice between a fixed map position when map isn't moving and is facing north "forward" and "red arrow" - your car - moves or 2) you car is in a fixed "forward" position and the map is moving around it as you drive. In that case "north" arrow may face any direction depending on where you are going. To switch between this two options just touch "north" arrow. On the larger scales there is no options - map is fixed and is facing north and your "red arrow" moves.
Sorry if my explanation isn’t clear enough, but if you try to play with the navy, you will understand what I am talking about. If this doesn't work - go to the dealer.
