Talking Navi problems in my '99 TL

Hey all,

I have been having problems with my Navi system pretty much since I got it from the dealer. They system works fine in somewhat cooler weather I have noticed, but if the car is in direct sunlight or the outside temp is above 80 or so, then the Navi never works. It is annoying because you cant manually control the AC untill the system reports the error. The error it always says is that there is a Hard Disk Error....I have taken it in and got the system updated, but that didnt help!!!

Has anyone had experience with this older Hard Drive Navi system???

How about some good performance upgrades that are reasonable?

Also, I would LOVE to see some audio installs, because the stock system SUCKS!!!! thanks alot, my email is newman8350@aol.com, if anyone has any advice or wants to hook me up with some pictures.

Thanks
Thomas

i have a 99tl, I've gotten that hard disk error a couple of times but each time I've just restarted the car and it went away. I dont know what it means, Im afraid its just going to fail completely sometime, but maybe it is just a temporary thing from the heat...

I also started getting the "hard disk error" about a year ago but i used to just turn off the then restart the car and it would work fine that only worked for like 2 months so for the past 8-10 months my navi hasnt worked AT ALL i was pretty pissed at first but I just got used to it:o

Ya mine worked when I first got it over last winter fine. Sometimes it wouldnt work, but I would just restart the ride and it would be fine....but when the weather gets hot at all or direct sun hits the car I can restart it again and again, and it still doesnt work.

I guess i am getting kinda used to it now, I really dont even need it, but its annoying when I have to wait for the unit to realize that it wont work so I can use the AC controls.

I REALLY want to get a DVD player on that screen using that switching unit that everyone is talking about and gut that shi@#y system and put a new one in. Hey its only $$$.

Every dealer I go to acts like I am talking French to them and they have no idea how to work on the Hard Disk systems. I really think it has to do with the heat...maybe some of the wires are exposed and are sensitive to the temp. Who knows!!!
