Very nice. You did a good job.
Try filling in the plate holes with some white paintable outdoor caulk, smooth it out, then paint it with some matching factory touch-up paint. It won't be perfect but costs nothing to do compared to pro body work/repaint.

About those holes, I just took off the plate frame to see how the car looks without the license plate and took the pictures. Right now I have the front plates back since it is the law in MD is to have both plates.

But thanks for the compliment.

I'm in FL where we don't require front plates... but the dealer did attach an advertising plate... but it was on a plastic bracket that didn't require any holes in the front bumper at all. It attaches to two bolt holes under the bumper. If anyone wants it, just drop me an e-mail -- all you pay is shipping.

I'd hate to see anyone drill unnecessary holes in their bumpers

I really like that version of your grill. What are you planning on doing to make it even better?

Also, I was wondering if all of you that customize your grill use that expandable mesh at Home Depot/Lowe's etc., or if there is a place where they have different types, grades, qualities, finishes of the mesh.

Also, has anyone gone the black chrome route on the grill? I've got a silver, and think it would look sweet if all badges could be black chrome, but kinda wack if the badges were, but the grill wasn't.

All the pictures of the gutter guard grillsthat I have seen are using the plastic gutter guard. I used the aluminum gutter guard which is silver and more durable. I think it looks awesome on a silver car will post pics soon. By the way the aluminum was a pain in the a_ _, but it was well worth it.

Actually, I belive most of the grills people have been making are aluminum, at least mine is. I painted mine black because, the silver on my WDP seemed a bit "busy" on my car. But I like how mine turned out.

That's the best looking "gutter" grill I've seen so far Phi. Looks good man.

BTW, I just finished cutting you a piece of grill material today, and it will probably be sent to you on Mon.

Phi, that black does stand out and looks great.

As for the "two holes", there was a thread a while back about the dealers putting holes into the bumpers. There are or were quite a few of us that had them. If i lived in a state that did'nt require the front tag i would have b*tch about them.

And i have the aluminum gutter gaurd also.

Quiet, yeah those holes suck, but nothing I can do about it.

bdimc2001 - I used multiple coats of black interior/exterior spray paint. Take your time and make multiple even coats.

96TL - Hey, yours look just like mine, or wait...mine looks just like yours. From that picture I couldn't even tell that it was a 96. Looking good.

Thanks PhiTL. I used a coat of primer first because the last time I painted it silver it faded and chipped pretty fast. I hope this one lasts. It been about 2 months and its doing good.

hey brother,

my dealer in So Cal drilled the holes in my bumper and I complained to everyone who would listen and they finally agreed to have the bumper repaired and repainted. I haven't done it yet, but I probably will. The good thing about the front plate is that it protects the front bumper from impact scratches from other cars backing out of parking spaces. And as we all know, the plastic under the paint is black...so on a silver TL everything shows up and it's virtually impossible to touch up silver paint...it just never looks the same

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I am going to have to live with the front license plate, due to the 2 law enforcement agency in my life, the cops and the gf She says that I am asking for it if I dont have it on.

jz983, I had the mesh left over from when my Father & Uncle set all the tile and marble in my house. You can get it at Home Depot.

TLDude, nothing was cut from the stock pieces. The wings are attached by like 4-6 screws from the back. If you pop your hood and look up in the back of the grill you will see the screws. Basically, you are just sandwiching the mesh between the chrome trim and the black plastic piece.

Man I wish I took pictures of the install. Oh well, maybe the next one that I do.

hey question about your grille. did you get the one that is like 3" width? cause that was all I could find at home depot. they also had 6" width silver ones that seemed really sharp. did you use the plastic ones for your grille? If so, did you have to layer them so they would be wide enough for mounting onto the grill? do you know what i am talking about?

jz983 - The grill that I bought came in a 5 pack and I think it is called Hinged gutter guards. I am not exactly sure how wide it is but it was enough to cover the opening in one piece. It is not the one that comes in the roll. That one is too flimsy and I dont think it would work well.

Quiet- I took pictures of my car after it was cleaned yesterday, I have to remake my sig picture with the new images, but they will be comming soon
