my system broke my sub box

i currently have 2 12's alpine type x's and i noticed the other day i wasnt gettin bass so i open my trunk and one of the subs was sittin inside the trunk... it blew out of the box by itself and the box is all cracked up.
the sub broke the screws in half leaving half the screw still inside da box... just wondering what to buy next for subwoofer enclosure.. any good ones out there that can handle the power. the one i had right now was a basworx box made with 3/4 inch mdf.

I think the best way to go is custom for those subs. I've heard stories about Type X's breaking boxes if they're not thick enough. I have one type X in a sealed enclosure 3/4" MDF with double baffle and I haven't had a problem yet.

Your system must be crazy loud. Are you running sealed or ported?

You need a box with a double layer baffle and one that is held together with glue, not screws.

Contact this guy, he will build you a box that will never come apart and will sound amazing.

I agree, get a custom built box. I have 2 12" Eclipse Aluminums and when I got them, the stereo shop told me to get a custom made box to hold them. They said if I bought a box off the showroom floor, the subs would just break it. Cost me about $150 but it was worth it. Most people here are gonna tell you to build your own, if you got the skillz to do it.

First your rearview mirror now your box. Next might be your eardrums. IMO you need to turn it down.

turn it down man, with my system i have noted that more things rattle now but things are not falling apart, you might want to look into that sliver tape stuff you put on your trunk lining and doors to cut down on the rattling.

I have my POS Type X in a 2.2cu^ft box @ 33hz. pounds very good. it is double baffled, and you gotta use some decently thick screws to hold it in because of its weight. cant wait to get my Fi Q.

Better your sub box than your trunk latch IMO.

Although my box held together my poor trunk latch weld broke on one side and eventually ripped the other side off aswell. It's fixed now but man it sucked.

I can only imagine how much your car rattles when you turn it up. Did you ever think that maybe it's just too much for the car?

You will soon enough be known as the guy that went deaf because of his system. do you wear those headphone things that they wear atthe airport because the engines are too loud?

dont turn it down.. just get some fat mat (tons cheaper than dynamat) and put that shit everywhere. just about every square inch of my mini is covered in the stuff and the only thing that rattles is my rear liscense plate.. cause its 2 feet long. and if it can keep a mini together it can definatley keep an acura at bay.. in fact my tl-s is fully covered in the trunk and i dont have any rattles back there.. just my sunroof.and my mirror is about to fall off..(need a new one just hard to get hold of one here)

http://www.fatmat.com/bulk/fatmat/100.html if you pay with paypal shipping is free. well atleast it was when i bought it. this if for 100 sq feet. for 4 sq feet of dynamat its like 36$..so this stuff is tons cheaper. by the way it comes as 2 50 sq foot rools.. 1/2 of a roll did my wifes mini, my mini and the trunk of my acura.
