My new eyes...

Ever since I lost my eyes from theft, I wasn't up to paying $1,800 from the dealer to replace them, so I did a lot of research, mixed and matches, and now i'm back up. Only thing is the a$$hole took everything, wiring too, so I had to order the wires and plugs from the dealer, what a ripoff! the highbeam and turnsignal sockets/plugs cost $72, and the 10 wires to plug it to the harness cost $32! I found the headlamp cluster on Ebay from someone selling them on eBay. He's a poster on AW.com, apparently. It is not stolen, and the light appeared to be in excellent condition. He also got me the HID Ballast and Ignitor for $275. Total cost for the lighting, about $750. The bodywork cost me another $900. Wadya think? The projector is off a BMW X5..Sorry so bad on the last pic, there was a car too close to the front of my car, so I couldn't take a good front end shot..

Looking sweet! Why didn't you clear the headlight out before you put it back together?

Ed,
don't tell me you have D2R behind those projectors? Get the 6000k D2S (projector type HID) to complete it. Maybe its because of the angle or camera or its light outside but the stock diffusers with D2R looks more much whiter then that. Looks nice tho.

It looks very funky. Unfortunately there's no auto leveling, heck, I can't even adjust the height. You can pretty much see everything behind the projectors. The lighting is pretty bright, but because it's aimed a little low and I can't adjust the height, the beam pattern only projects about 30-40 feet in front of me. If you look at the light from angles, you see the light blasting from everywhere(behind the projector), but straight in front of the beam, it's a bright white light. The bulbs are stock. The Ignitor/ballast is stock.

The Projector is right behind the plastic clear cover in front. There's like 1/2 an inch space between the lens cover and the projector..

You got extra security? You don't need these ripped from your car either.

Install a couple bolts of lightning to the Screws and etc to the casing of the light..

When you find people dead in front of your car, you'll know what happend.. I wonder if someone passed out could they sue you for health injuries or if they get brain damaged or something

Hey Why exactly did you pick the X5 lights? Were they cheap or what? I like the E-Series Lights too

hey ed....i had the same EXACT setup when i had the TL front lights....they got ripped about a month after I got em in, and i didnt get a chance to take any pics. I also had X5 projectors, but I had the 6000K d2s bulbs in there. Two guys off the board did the installation of the projector for me....the main guy whom i talked to was bobatimes, and the other i dont recall...the whole project for me ran about $800.....$300 for 6000ks, because this was when they first came out, $300 for installation of the projector, and $200 for the X5 projectors, whihc i bought off of ebay. Apparently, it was ideal to use a smaller projector because the one i used was meant for a bigger car. Also, im not sure how yours look under the hood, but mine did not look to great...there was tape holding the projector up, and the HID cver coldnt be used..also, the windsheild pipe had to be relocated. Also, mine were able to be adjusted up and down, but using zip ties to hold the projector to the frame somehow...

ahhh so your the one that bought them off the ebay dude??... I remember that auction. I almost bid on it but I figured I would first get some D2S bulbs before I even think about that mod...

good info njpretty, I was wondering how far the x5 projectors extended out of the headlight housing...

Heres some Projectors from the X5:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710

May I ask why everyone prefers these X5 ones? I have seen nice ones on the Mercedes ML*** TOO!

Other cars like the E-Series have some nice ones too.. Do you think the new 2004 TL Projectors will be good as the BMW and Mercedes ones? TSX Has projectors right? Or am I wrong?
