My New Cold Air Intake
Here are a few pics of my new cold air intake. I have been a lurker for a while and haven't really made any other mods. So, just wondering what ur opinion is of my little "invention".
My wife has been calling it the "Ghetto Intake System"; I'm a plumber by trade so this is just a natural way for me to mod my car. I made my CAI out of 3" PVC pipe and 2- 45 angle fittings and 1- 22 angle fitting. I used about 3 feet of pipe to bring the opening to the front grill. I couldn't find any intakes for the Type-S with fog lights which got my gears going on how to fabricate something. I am using the stock airbox, got rid of the resonator, and am using a stock-size high flow filter.
OK, I finished typing my message and for some reason I cannot attach pics to my posts. So, if you want to see the pics, maybe someone can give me the heads up on how to attach them because it seems my account is not authorized to post pics; not sure what that's about??

..your better off taking out the entire stock intake system and replace it with the tubing directly from the throttle body. I've seen this done on other cars.. it pretty much works the same as AEM, Injen, etc.. it just might look a little "ghetto" ..hehehe, your wifey was right.

Actually, I don't have more noise than what a stock one has, but I do notice more pep on take off and changing gears. It's nice. I kind of wish It had that roaring sound that a professional one has.

it might if you ran the pvc all the way to the tb somehow and put a cone filter on it. you will need the vac and air lines to be replaced into the pvc though. i have stock parts all the way from the tb to the filter, which is K&N. i took the intake resonator out too, but left the hole open on the bottom of the airbox as the initial intake port (less restrictive than your set-up). i get a whoosh when reving at a stand still and a slight groan (note: not growl) when under load.

Yeah, I just couldn't find any other homemade "goods". Whole thing sounds like normal, stock while idling, but under load it sounds like a performance intake. Aah, so many more uses for PVC than just plumbing.
I knew I should have taken pics while I was actually installing it, but it really isn't that hard to fabricate.
