Unhappy My First TL-S Problem

After reading some of the problems others have experienced, I was thanking the stars that my car had been problem free - until now. I was driving home from work yesterday and felt the seat was a bit hot. I figured it must have been warm from sitting in the sun all day. Then I start to really sweat so I check the passenger seat and it's cool as a cucumber. I go to the store on my way home, park in the car for a good 20 minutes out of the sun. I come back and the seat is cool, but sure enough as I'm driving it warms up again. Please note at this point I am 100% the bun warmer switch is off. This morning coming into work, same story. It's 55 degrees outside, my seat warmer swith is off and the seat is burning. This will be a major problem during the summer.

I'll call the dealer today and report back. Anyone else have this problem with rogue seat warmers? Any ideas what might be wrong? I have played around with the switch enough to be sure it's not slightly ajar or anything like that.

"My biscuits are burning!"

Sorry to hear about that. Probably something that can be easily fixed at the dealer. I was worried that myne might not work, so despite the 98 degree weather, we were trying the seat warmers!

Hope it gets resolved quickly!

Talking

Hot buns anyone hot off the Acura seats.
Are you sure the button was in the middle off position & the light was off. When I got my 2000 TL in late 99 they had problems with the switches. The problem was that the light was not lighting in the hi position but the seat warmer was still working.
I knew about this problem before I got the car because of some of us old timers from the old TL board. Acura had some bad switches on some of the TL cars then. I took mine back to the dealership 2 days after I got the car . The dealership replaced it & its been working fine for over a year. I remember I had to push the switch a couple of times to get the light to come on but the seat was working fine. So make sure the switch was in the mid off position & not someother & light not working.

Update

OK, after several trips to the dealer here's where I stand. They have now disconnected the grid beneath my driver seat so that the seat heater is disabled. Hardly a solution, but they wanted to see if I still had the problem. Truthfully, I think it's still there, but it's difficult to tell because the sun heats up the seat so much to begin with. I'll be experimenting in the upcoming days by trading cars with a buddy who also has the TLS. If there's no problem, it should obviously be the same.

But get this, the service manager told me that many Acura's have slightly warm seats (gave the example of his regional manager who drives a RL and finds his seats slightly warm at all times) and it's just something they deal with.

So my question to the board is, do you feel a certain amount of heat eminating from within your seat regardless of outside conditions (i.e. sun)? I can understand that leather retains body warmth more than fabric, but I detect more heat than can be explained by this phenomenon.

Hope none of you folks are having this problem, but I'd like to know if you are. More importantly, is it possible some people aren't noticing it because it's summer and they just figure it's the outside weather?

The bottom line is that I'm still unhappy, but my dealer is working with me.

thanks

..THAT MAN IS ON DRUGS!! Seats arent "warm" by themselves! Unless there is some current running to the warming grid all the time, there is no REASON for them to be warm! I cant believe the service manager told you that with a straight face! LOL...

That sounds like a bunch of malarkey to me! To prove his theory WRONG, garage or shade it over the weekend. Leave it a few hours under shade and then sit in it. If your seats are still warm, then there is a problem.

Here in Texas it's pretty hot....but if my seats are a little warm on first getting in, it's gone within a few minutes!

Stay on them until they fix that! Sounds like the service dept. is clueless and just wants to avoid the issue!

That's bad. Have the dealer fix in. In S. Cal is hot too and I never had that experience.
