RED = Evil Doer Super Villain 97 Ford Ranger
GRAY = Innocent Victim #1 Ealry 90's Eclipse or Mazda
Aegean BLUE = Innocent Victim #2 (Me)
Before Collision:
During Collision:
After Collision:
Some idiot student was the culprit. I even hesitated before moving after the light changed to green and so did the guy next to me. Boy were we both pissed out of our minds. The moron that hit us ran the red a few seconds AFTER it turned red for him.
No parties were seriously injured, thank God.
I'll post pictures of my car once I get to see it. I managed to cripple it to a parking lot right next to the scene. My rear driver-side wheel is bent inward, the rear driver-side door is crushed, the front driver-side door is slightly crushed, side air-bag popped out (saving me of many bruises), drvier-side front wheel slightly bent inward, driver-side front fender completely pushed in (looks funny because the whole wheel is now exposed).

Sorry to read about your misfortune....man, there's an increasing number of people that should not have their licence. Same thing almost happend to me. Some a$$hole ran through a red light in a huge Dodge Ram and nearly nailed me. If I was a half a second slower into the intersection, I would have been hospitalized.

I was just at the intersection of the collision. I was going to Whole foods with my girl and we drove by a beautifull TL-S in Blue, just like mine. As we drove by i was looking at it and almost sh!t when we got around to the other side. I could not believe the damage. My first thought was how could someone be driving that car around like that. I took another look at it on the way out and figured it must have happened at that intersection and was left there. I didnt get to close or look inside. did your side airbag go off? Anyway when i got back to the office i looked on the board and saw your post i knew right away that it was your car that i saw. BTW nice job keeping it clean, it looked great... from the passengers side. Well at least you dont have to worry about it sitting there, as im sure you know its in a good location. Thank god it didnt happen down in National City..

That's funny as hell.

Times like those when you have to decide how important the insurance money is...because you can either collect the money from him, sue him for injuries possibly...or you can just beat the crap out of him and kiss your money goodbye It's a tough decision sometimes...I hate people that run red lights...I may go faster than the speed limit, but I always let people merge, give people right of way, stop at stop signs, and ALWAYS don't run redlights...

Also I'm worried they fix it and put a salvage title on my car. That would really suck. Then I might try to sue on something.
How do I get a lump sum. AAA said they will be paying the auto shop directly and then getting the money from the other party's insurance.

if you are physically injured, you are entitled to some money for your pain and suffering as well as medical bills. let me tell you copayments do not mean squat , and pain and suffering can be hard to prove. so you must rely on the amount of medical bills to get a good payout...actual bills is what it's all about ! i feel you gotta make that SOB pay for this happening to your baby, so i hope you understand what i REALLY mean . otherwise, get a GOOD lawyer to handle your medical case.
if the car is not totalled, then don't worry. they gotta fix everything and warranty the work. more than likely your insurance company will be picking up the bill first, so everything will get fixed. they then try to recover some or all of their money from that guy's insurance...it might not all be there though so your insurance company loses out (not you though). you might need to pay your collision deductible in advance...it will be returned when they collect from the other party.
from what i understand, they don't SALVAGE cars if they are fixed...right?

not true. with such severe damage, this car will get a salvage title.
Since this is a new car, you can ask your insurance for the value lost.
After the car is fixed, or nearly complete, have a dealer to estimate the current value of the car and ask insurance to pay the difference.
If not, simply sue for the loss in value.

Also, What are the requirements for a salvage title versus a total loss?
I read that a vehicle with a salvage title cannot be registered. And if you have a total loss settlement, you are required to register the car as salvaged.
At this point, I would rather get a new car. What are my prospects? Loss in money, etc.
Again, everyone always says sue, sue, sue. Is it easy to simply sue? I don't even have any injuries.
One more, I have a claim with my insurance company(AAA), is it better to claim with his insurance or mine?
Thanks,

Oh yeah, the damage doesn't look super bad, hopefully can be fixed without too much hassle. How fast was the truck going? I'm just wondering to find out the threshold for side airbg deployment....

first off, I'm glad you're ok
second....I do not think your car will be a salvage title or a write off or anything...the damage you sustanained is all minor body and suspension damage...the doors are still closed tightly at the tops indicating no structural damage to the car...I would guess damage to be around 10-14k. Your car will be like new when it is fixed as long as you use a REPUTABLE body shop, not just the one your insurance company suggests...
